This will be my first as a O/O but as a company driver we stayed busy up until the holidays. Thanksgiving week was slow and then off from Christmas even until New Years. Did some local stuff out and back but that's about it. CJ started in the winter and did good

Yes it slows down and rates drop for winter. The key is to be aggressive with the board and try to stay planned ahead without getting yourself in a weather bind. Meaning the weather screws up your schedule.

And we all hope we will get a big spring burst, but with next year being an election year probably won't get one. Alot of people don't like spending so freight tends to be down with an election.

Good points. Especially since the spring bust never really happened this year. It was more like a slight surge at best.

You are correct, and seams to have taken a nose dive from there lol. Just my opinion we really need to penny pinch for the next 18 months or so , some more than others

In my opinion, this winter, and next year, it's going to be very bad. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm planning for a very skinny year. And I won't be surprised if Mercer cuts three hundred trucks like they did in 09

Did they cut by attrition .... By that I mean not replacing those who left on their own. Or firing guys ?
