It saves locations that you save under "My Places" but I don't see anywhere that would save the actual route. I use live traffic so it will constantly update the route based on traffic backups as needed.

Just as an FYI, I was notified that CoPilot for iOS is now on sale for $99 down from $149... The last two years it was on sale in October so not sure why earlier this year.

    > put in a destination and select "Go" like normal
    > Go to "Main Menu" then tap the route icon (second one at bottom) then tap "Plan or Edit Trip"
    > You will see the starting point and destination listed. If you put in any stops or drag-route points you will see them too. This is your currently planned trip
    > Tap "Options" at the bottom
    > Now you can "Save" this route and name it.
    > The "Plan or Edit Trip" screen is also where you can "Load" previously saved trips.
    > It is also the easiest place to pre-plan ahead of time. Also it is essential if you are an oversize or permit hauler whereby you must follow, and therefore pre-plan precisely, an exact road route turn-by-turn.

Use the "Cloud" option inside of the CoPilot app menu itself to back up and sync recent destinations or favorites between devices.

Reason for edit: Second part of original post was not an official procedure. Thought twice and removed it to eliminate the liability of someone breaking a file by accident.

Bought the CoPilot Truck while it was on sale and waiting to get my iPad fixed/replaced to give it a good test drive over the road.

I need to start looking at options for placing the iPad on the dash without putting holes in the dash. Maybe some kind of suction cup to the window or a weight bag sitting on the dash?

I hope the iPad isn't too big. Curious if anything is going to be announced at the Apple Event on September 9th with the iPhone or if another event might be coming after this one in the coming month or so.

I made a tablet mount for this purpose you described. It uses a series of Ram Mount parts to stick to the bottom of the windshield (so it doesn't slide around) and then extends just over the edge of the dash within hands-reach. It knuckles downward at the end so that you can keep it out of the windshield eyeline, but still be able to tap or see the screen easily. Link: truck mount for iPad, tablets, or Rand tablet.

There are surley other ideas out there, but this is the one we came up with for slip-seaters and other drivers who wanted a no-hassle way to get a tablet within hand's reach with no modifying anything.

    @Dieselboss

Thanks for the link. Looks pretty much exactly what I was envisioning. Just need to decide which size iDevice I want to use the CoPilot App on at the dash. Current iPhone is way too small for dash use and iPad might be too big. Waiting to see what Apple announces on 9/9 and hope Santa opts to come early this year.

Again, thanks for the useful link.

    Stay Safe,
    MD

It works equally well on Apple devices or Android devices. So whichever flavor suits you for OTHER stuff besides CoPilot. It looks really good on 7 and 8 inch screens like iPad Mini or a Android Nexus7 for instance.

It looks like Sept 9 will have Apple talking about the new iPhone (6S) and their streaming TV stuff. I haven't seen anything about a different tablet (i.e. iPad) offering. But then again, they may have forgotten to send my advance press copy (ha, ha)

Last rumor I heard was IPhone and other stuff on 9/9 but possibly another event for the iPad (Pro?) come October.

But all just rumors until Mr. Cook takes the floor.

Don't worry, I didn't get my invite for the 9/9 event either... :-(
