SWIFT, 3 months, new driver OTR, the facts

My average gross pay for 6 weeks solo OTR: $1000.16. Lowest $920, highest $1109.
My average miles empty & loaded combined: 2616. lowest 2383, highest 2968.
Not included: First month with Mentor, Hometime week, or last week has not been figured yet but was a really good week.

I always make around $1000, even the lowest mileage week at 2383 miles I grossed $1009-
The shorter trips pay better. And when I'm stuck waiting on a live unload I've been paid for that automatically so it always evens out to about 1000 per week for me.

Some weekends the good loads get scarce, so I just take whats available rather than sit.

Most every Swift driver I've talked with is very nice. Even the complaining ones, which I can see why they have issues after talking with them. Most create the problems and are ignorant to it.

- Payroll Department has been super nice and ready to help or explain anything. Unbelievably nice. So far no mistakes on my checks that I have setup for direct deposit.
- Elog/Qualcomm Department (not sure the name) I've talked to twice to make changes on my hours and they were very nice and was easily fixed.
- Drivers Support Department has always been super nice too.

Some of the guys who work at the terminals are a bit grumpy and not so friendly, but many are super nice and uplifting when I come in late and tired for a T call.

My hometime request they got me home the day I requested. The one time I asked to go to a different area and a 2000 mile load they gave to to me. Seems to me they try and put you where you want.

I talk to many drivers at different companies and I have not found anybody with proof of a better deal. Higher mileage pay means nothing, what matters is your final gross pay.

Maybe I've had a good experience because I run hard and get the load there asap. If the load is tight on time or already late I just send a late macro asap. So I have no service failures. If you send your macros and use your DOT time correctly you'll never get a service failure for being late.
When I have to talk to anybody at work I always greet them with a happy positive attitude. This makes a huge difference on how people treat you.

I rarely hear from anybody at Swift, I just get trips on the qualcomm and accept and drive. Just the way I like it!
Would I like higher Mileage and Pay? Of course, but from what I see out there I have a good deal for a new driver.

 

Yes, Just got my CDL this year before Swift hired me. Lancaster. Funny thing is since Orientation I've never been back to Lancaster.

 

I researched for some time to decide where to get a job and learn about it. Been reading on here a lot, and planned to post when I had something worth while. Of all the Trucking forums I like this one the most by far and the only one I'm a member on.
