The radiator freezes, tho I haven't had the pleasure. Helps keeps bugs out the rest of the year. Again haven't had the pleasure.

Because they can't afford the grill screen with the pointy teeth graphics...

Or because it blocks some of the cold air flowing to the radiator and helps keep engine temp up.

    Take your pick :D

    that makes no sense.

anti freeze prevents the coolant from freezing.

why do they want higher engine temps?

there also blocking the intercooler why would they want higher air intake temps, is colder air more dense; more power with same amount of fuel?

Try driving a truck in -35 and tell me how warm you are in the cab. The cold is hard on everything. -35 and below just the shock of the cold air hitting not only the coolant, but transmission oil and power steering fluid (if you have coolers up front for them) can be enough to pop them.

If you have never driven a older freightliner Columbia through Wyoming -20 you will never understand lol. I had the grills blocked, off and wrapped my self in blankets with boots and 2 pairs of socks only heat I would get was climbing hills whe the motor starts to get hot lol. I use to scrape ice from the inside of my windows. I replaced the thermostat and still that truck did not like keeping me warm.

Here is a pic rolling down the interstate lol

it also keeps ice from forming ON the grill and making the temp skyrocket.

someday, when you get to be a driver, you will understand. what makes NO SENSE to you, is perfectly sensable to the rest of us.

unless you wanna talk HOS, DOT, FMSCA, FMCSR, hair testing, blood testing, prostrate testing, and ticklish testing

I ran a whole winter in a truck with no heat like that. I had the whole grill tarped off. Running down the highway it was maybe 10 degrees Celsius in the cab. Still better than the -40C and wind outside the truck. My feet still hurt when I think about that.
