Honestly dude they start you out with the bonus and the only way you can loose it is if your idle time is wayy to high or you have an accident. Supposedly the scale for fuel economy is specific to each job so local and regional are on separate scales etc but like I said it doesnt really mater, your gonna get the bonus as long as you arent a screw up.

I'm supposed to start intermodal for Schneider on the 14th in Chicago. A lot of places want you to have 2 years experience and I just got my cdl in Ohio in July. Idk if I should continue looking or just take the job...

I drive for Schneider Intermodal out of Faiburn, GA. They started me out at .39cpm with a .5 cpm performance bonus on all miles ran taking me to 0.44cpm. We have a 5 day work week and I am off weekends, sometimes I get home every day. I have been here a year and a half and they have raised the pay to .46cpm with a sliding scale performance bonus of up to .06cpm meaning you can make 0.52cpm. I am very happy here and have no plans on moving at this time. The only issue I have may be what a member wrote earlier about the cooling system. The intermodal trucks have no apu's. They have a window fan that is supposed to keep you cool but here in the South it is little help. I run my truck, I will not and cannot sleep in heat. I run it and let it cool down the truck then turn it off, where there is a will there is a way. You can lose your performance bonus if you idle for too long and go over the allowable percentage so you just have to be mindful of that. I drive a 2014 Cascadia automatic. I hate the auto shift but I have been driving for 11 years so I am hooked on my 10 speed.
All in all Schneider is a very good, stable company to work for. I have never worked for any of the other Intermodal divisions, so I do not know of their operations there but I can only speak of Faiburn, GA and I am happy here. I hope this information helps all those who are inquiring about it.
Be safe and keep it between the lines......Surfer Joe, CharlesRog, Chuck223 and 2 others Thank this. -
