Redo inside of truck?

hardwood floors in a truck sounds a little off.. thats all. price certainty plays a part in it.

If you are pulling a flatbed indoor/outdoor carpet be found cheap enough to be thrown out and a new carpet put in when dirty.

 

Dont know what you pull but if you do pull a flatbed I would think twice about a wood floor. I have seen a couple people in the past that have tore up a floor pretty quick pulling flatbed.

Pulling flatbed you can find yourself unloading in some dirty places. No matter what you do that dirt, mud, ice, water or rocks can find there way back into the rig with you and over time it wreaks havoc on the floor.

 

I've never had that issue. Its no different then the floor in your house. Who gets back in their truck all dirty like that?
Muddy boots go on a rubber mat. Hopefully you dont drive in dirty clothing?

 

I've never had that issue either. And even if I did, it's cheap enough you can replace it. And it would be just a couple hour job once you did it once and had the old boards to use to trace our the drill holes and cuts.

Someone mentioned price. The laminated wood flooring is pretty darn cheap. You aren't doing a 3500 sq ft house. Can and sleeper is barely ten sq ft. Skip a few over priced petro buffets and there is the money for your new floor.

 

The wood floor you can do in half a day. I used the laminate floating floor the first time as my trial run. Held up great over the last 6 months. Yesterday in about an hour I stripped out the old laminate, up to the seats, and put down 3/4" hardwood flooring (pre finished). I got tired of looking at the floor so I did this in a parking lot.... this weekend I'll finish with making the cuts and do the day cab area. Might I add in no time at all you can strip out the interior panels. I'm redoing mine as well and will replace all the plastic panels with sheets of plywood (1/4"), square everything up, then cover with a high quality vinyl that will match the exterior color of the truck. If you use the Luan (spelling might be wrong) you can cut it with a razor blade and is cheaper than the plywood. So far the new hardwood and underlayment was 157$. I spent roughly 100$ on the vinyl, will likely have 100$ in plywood, and probably 20$ for beer.
My advice is to do a little at a time so you don't get frustrated or burnt out.

 

I have wood floor. Guy who owned the truck before me put it in. He pulled a flat for 10 years and I pull flat now. I do want carpet in the back though.

 

Carpet is really good for dust and dirt to get ground in to then you're breathing it. I clean mine but it still holds dirt and dust. Really carpet sucks for floors in trucks. Rubber so you can hose it out or wood so you can wipe it out are the only way to have it imo.
