Today was an unproductive day... :biggrin_2557: except for the delivery in the morning. Hey Mr. FatDaddy, only the refer trucks gotta unhook... Dry vans go to the other side of the building and stay hooked.

They kept me over 4 hrs at the dock... :biggrin_2552: Said they had only 2 people to count and check all the loads received... and said they didn't sign hrs in and out... Ooooh really? Guess what... Nice lady guard at the gate, stamped my times in and out on my gate pass and let me take a picture of it... :yes2557: But with or without picture, broker and dispatcher told me I will get my detention...:yes2557:

Ok.... after that I headed to next shipper... BTW, this was a CH Robinson load...
It wasn't a tight place at all... it was a small yard but behind the building, not off the street... :biggrin_25519:
Got loaded and ran to Love's for scale... and guess what...

    11360 steer
    32600 drive
    35680 trailer
    79640 total

I had my pins on the 3rd hole from the front... but I knew would have to have one pallet removed BECAUSE my maintenance boss told me once he doesn't want me moving the 5th wheel.... the thing is stuck and I tried to move it in the past but couldn't and called Mr. maintenance and he told me, "I don't want you moving the 5th wheel... cause it will make the steer too heavy, blah, blah, blah..."
Okey dokey... So, I never bothered again... BUT I knew one day that would cause problems... And TODAY was that day... :biggrin_25510:

Called CH agent and asked him to tell the shipper they would have to rearrange the load and possibly remove one pallet...
Went back to shipper... After one hr or so, shipper moved some of the weight to the nose of trailer but didn't remove any pallet... I went back to Love's and this is what I got...

    11320 steer
    33880 drive
    34540 trailer
    79740 total

I knew that sliding the tandems wouldn't do any good :biggrin_25512: but I moved one hole to the rear anyway just to prove my point... And this is what I got...

    11360 steer
    34260 drive
    34160 drive
    79780 total

BTW, I had 3 quarters of tank full...

Went back to to shipper once more. CH called me and asked what I think would solve the problem... I told CH that shipper would need to remove one pallet... Broker said ok.... and I kept waiting...
One hr later, loader started unloading the trailer... I asked shipper why... He said because broker said so... :biggrin_2552:
Called CH while shipper was on the phone with someone else from CH...
Someone made the decision (shipper or receiver not sure) they didn't want to remove any pallet...

I don't really "blame" them... Like Mr. FatDaddy told me on the phone, the load was still under 80,000 lbs.. And they tried to rearrange the pallets... I believe if I could move that stuck 5th wheel, I might have been able to make all axles legal...
My dispatcher got really upset for our wasted time... almost all day for nothing... and she got aggravated with CH for not giving her a straight answer of whether or not we would pull the load and made her wait and didn't respond her emails... She is a straight forward person... And she also got aggravated for the shipper removing the load.. I told her that is business... if we can't move their load, they will find someone else that will... And that aggravated me more than anything else... We are a small company, it's not easy for us to get good loads... the market is down... Dispatcher said she just had to accept a load paying $1.05 to get driver unstuck from where he was... :biggrin_25510:
Anyway.... next time I go to company, will talk to Mr. maintenance boss about this 5th wheel... Why all drivers in my company move that and he told me not to touch it?? :biggrin_25510: I have done it in several other trucks in my former company... If he insists in not getting that thing unstuck next time I go to their shop, we may lose another load just like we did today... :biggrin_2552:

BTW, my dispatcher got me a load at the end of her day to replace the one we lost... This one will be 356 empty miles to very south TX and then head to CA...

AH!! BTW, I am back in that dump.... I mean, "TRUCKER'S PARADISE"... :biggrin_25523: Moved truck 3 times... first parked in the back.... then, saw a better spot in the middle and parked there... and then, someone left that front row and I quickly moved truck there... So here I am now..

Corning, CA again for the night. Taqueria/roach coach for breakfast in the morning.

Snagged an O.K. paying load heading to Seattle so will settle the bill on some upgrades to the trailer I had them do. Drop this one @ the drop either Fri night or Sat Morning then swing back by and grab my new wagon on Saturday.

Looking for the elusive weekend pu load........... or a Monday load paying more than break even and is not going to the northern end of I95
