Might be your emmisions system killing it. Some do real good while others are horrible

My mechanic said it's the emissions. He said he'll delete it for me for $1800 when I get ready. He has an identical truck to mine there that was averaging 5.7. He deleted it and it's averaging 7.2 now.

No but even if I go off duty for 3 hours, as soon as I go back on duty or driving then it subtracts it out of my 14

Right but you won't kill your 70. In case you need it. But it does suck not being able to extend your day, especially when your not tired

That's why you either take your break there or nearby, or you do a split sleeper.

I'm not worried about my 70. At the end of the week I always have plenty of that left. My problem is having to hit a truck stop because I have 30 minutes left of on duty time but still have 5 hours of drive time.

I still haven't figured out how to do the split sleeper and being honest i really don't know the rules. Isn't it something like you can take 8 hours in the sleeper but you have to take the last 2 hours within the first 6 hours of driving or some crazy thing like that?

Ummm not quite, but that would be more beneficial on a personal level. If you are in the sleeper for at least 8 hours, it pauses your 14 until you come out. Once you're out of sleeper, you can take the 2 hour break when/if you want or not take it. Until you take the 2 hour break you only have as much time on your 14 as you had when you went into the sleeper. Once you take a 2 hour break off duty or in the sleeper, it resets your 14 from the end of the 8 hour sleeper.

So if you burn 4 hours on your 14, then you have 10 left. If you sit at a customer for 6 that leaves you 4 hours to drive, but if you go ahead and sit another 2 (8 total and continuous) and mark it all as sleeper, then you still have 10 hours on your 14 and roughly 7 on your 11. You drive for 4 more, you now have 6 hours on your 14 and 3 on your 11. You take a 2 hr break, catch a nap, get a lot lizard, whatever, as long as its at least 2 hours, it resets the 14 from the end of the 8. So now you have a fresh 14, minus your drive and break time, giving you 8 hours on your 14 (14 - 4drive - 2 break = 8 left) and 7 hours on your 11.

It's a little confusing until you get used to it, then it's not too bad.

And I told you long ago to get it straight. You don't have to have a hood , you just want one. If you would have to have drove cabovers for many years, a snub nose gmc brigadier has a hood, just sayin
