It's not a reason I personally would stop someone unless it was so extreme that I thought it would be seriously blocking their vision.

Never been put out of service. Yet once an Arizona State Trooper stopped me. When he looked at my log book he said, “Something isn’t right, you can’t get from there to here in that amount of time.”
I said, “Yes I can, I’ve got a big engine and I go just as fast up mountains as I go down mountain so my truck makes very good time in mountain & or hilly country.”
Them he said, “You haven’t got but 30 more minutes on duty.”
I stated, ‘Your correct, there’s a truck stop about 20 to 30 miles east of here on the north side of the interstate and that where I’m going to stop, take a shower, eat, them come back to my truck and go to bed.”
He stated, “There’s still something wrong with your log book, yet I can’t figure out what it is, go on down to the truck stop and get some sleep.”
Never heard of calling a US Marshall to arrest a State Trooper.Trucker61016 and rachi Thank this. -
I've been hearing that US marshal stuff for 30 years. Never put any stock in it myself. Lots of older guys tried to tell me they (marshals) were the only ones who had authority to break a seal on a trailer, since it was an interstate shipment and therefore supposedly only under federal jurisdiction. Evidently a lot of people have no idea what the US Marshals Service does.

Few laws are perfect. Stick around long enough and they will change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.
But I don't make the rules. We live in a democracy and rules and laws are made and changed and remade. I don't have any more say in what rules are passed than any one here. I have to enforce the rules that exist or find another job.
Maybe I'll apply to be a U S Marshall?Northern Nomad, Trucker61016, rachi and 3 others Thank this. -
Most folks who get into trouble w/compliance issues are already confused and misinformed to begin with. If you don't know the rules, don't play the game. Plain and simple.

I thought that was funny..Trucker61016 Thanks this. -

NOW, I've ran into truck drivers that claim to be Merchant Marines (I think) and are above the lawTrucker61016 and 77smartin Thank this. -
I've always known that was a bunch of hooey. The only time I'd even THINK about calling in reinforcements of a different LE post would be if they were wanting to search my vehicle (which I have no problem with) but my suspicions were that something might get planted. There's no reason to even THINK I'm on any type of substance so wanting to look for one would raise my suspicions at the get go.
This is VERY rare , but it does and has happened. Hopefully, I never find myself in that situation.
Treat em with respect roadside and run a tight ship... paperwork correct, permits in order , etc... you'll have little problems. -
I get confused when I think about why people believe they're inspecting trucks in the name of safety rather than in the name of money collection
Aamcotrans, goin2fast10, KeithT1967 and 1 other person Thank this. -
The Marshalls jobs: to catch the fugitifs.
The States troopers: secure the high ways.
Totally different, even all are Law enforcement.
Same for FBI, CIA, NSA etc...
It is for it, they get different names, for each expert. Make sense! Have a great safety day
