I enjoy highway routes.....the I gets kinda boring unless I am trying to get to the house.
-
I do this myself from time to time due to miles added that are way off what im being paid for. its usually a fuel stop 60 to 100 miles off route one direction. 60 miles there 60 miles back . The computer made a mistake.
having approval is best.Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
Just go the better route. When you need fuel simply stop at an authorized place (TA, Petro or Loves) and call for fuel.
You will show some out of route miles, but that is not something that will get you in trouble.
In the end it will save you time and the company some fuel cost.
At the very worst you will be authorized for a mere 50-55 gallons, and you may need to stop again along the way.
I recently had a situation where my fuel stop was in the wrong direction to my destination, adding around 100 miles to my trip. It was a weekend, so ECT.
I simply headed in the right direction along the best route, then called for fuel when I figured I was far enough.
The first time I called I was given the same fuel route, and told that they could only open me up for 50 gallons if I wanted to fuel where I was at - and I would have to go in to get the Comdata code and call back.
I went in to use the bathroom and get the code and then called again.
I got a different ECT DM, and this time I was given the correct fuel route.
I was sent on the best route, filling up where I was at.
ECT will NEVER authorize a different route. It seems they are not authorized to do that, or they are too scared to take the leap. At least, most of them. Every once in a while I get a smart one.
But every time I call my own DM to suggest a route I'd rather take, I'm allowed to do so.
And when I mention it to him after the fact I'm told it's OK. -
The route swift is running him is LONGER than running I25 south to New mexico 26, to I10 w by 100 miles.
dca Thanks this. -
what are the paid miles empty and loaded ?
-
-
if it were me I would go the route closest to the paid loaded and paid empty. two different but one in the same. or point it out and get the extra miles added.
-
to get miles added and not worry about reruting yourself keep track with odometer reading from point a to b c d etc on their selected route. point it out to whomever in your office when whomever is on duty.
I'm one that keeps notes on paper -
the 550 will be your biggest hassle. the rest of the route won't be so bad.
isn't the 470 a toll road?
