I hate Peoplenet, where are you parked and recipes thread

###### driver, that sucks. One time a few years back I rolled into the Houston area Saturday afternoon for a Monday delivery, so I did a 34 at Baytown. Got up Monday morning and delivered that load and then proceeded 175 miles to New Braunfels where I ended up doing another 34 because my load didn't pick up until Wednesday at 9:00am. I thought the boredom was going to kill me...lol

As for my current situation with the kidney stones, I go to the urologist this morning to see what we're going to do about them. I have a feeling he's going to want me to pass them rather than intervene and blast them. If he blasts them, I could be out of work for a week or so, but if he doesn't, I'm not sure I want to be out on the road dealing with the pain and pressure.

Catch 22 for sure...

One thing though, it seems, lately, that every time I go back out OTR, I get these dang things. I don't know if it's the truckstop food, the fact that I drink more coffee and cola (for the caffeine), that I don't drink enough (so I don't have to stop and pee every hour), or something else entirely. It's all stuff we have to try and figure out.

 

Red bull works pretty good,and takes a small amount,to get going.
You guys ever buy pizza or donuts,for the shop guys?
Every time I come to Indy,they get my truck repaired,the same day.
I was thinking, the donuts,early in the morning,would be the more appreciated gift?

 

The yard dogs make it look so easy,with the small cab,and windows everywhere.
Some are so helpfull,and really deserve accolades. ..but the few,like the jerk,at daylight..in cali,do nothing but yell and scream,at ya..Id like to just jack his jaw,and attitude.

 

i have a great relationship with all yard dogs
when i was hauling meat plenty of times the trailers were so close you couldn't get the landing gear up. I always gave them a $5
now I dont need that help often or even go places with yard dogs often but the $5 is still on my visor

and yes I always leave money in the showers too

 

Even the ol FM still gets out and looks if he has to lol

My father in law gave me this awesome big flashlight that has a clear center section with bulbs all the way around and many times at night if the lot isn't well lit and almost always in enclosed docks I'll turn on that center light and set it standing up on the ground at the dock right where my left side should touch it.

No shame in doing what you gotta do as long as you don't hit anything

 

I picked up a load out of the yard that came out of Mexico that had paperwork and a customs manifest that said 19,000 kg which is roughly 42,000 lbs. I went to scale out and felt was way lighter just from pulling it. Hit the scale and sure enough it was more like 10,000 lbs.

 

I chose the late option for leaving, and now finishing up some paperwork to let the Cincinnati rush hour fade a little more before participating.

I'm a big fan of valet parking. When we do pickups at Pilgrim's Pride in Gainesville we usually drop the trailer the night before, then it magically gets loaded overnight. Come in the next morning hook & go. Only one time the spotter almost tore off a mudflap, otherwise worth the risk.

Some Blue Beacons have scales set up like that, actually more like a drive thru window. The one next door to the Atlanta Petro has one. You weigh, then pull up to pay and get the printout. I've never used that since I rarely stop there except to top reefer fuel and get the trailer washed out, so empty and no scale needed. Funny, the Atlanta Petro has a booth out at the scale that I've never seen used. Well not a surprise there as service isn't something they really specialize in there.

 

The Blue Beacon on Mines Rd in Laredo has those drive up scales. Much nicer than trying to scale out at the Pilot/J/TA cluster ####, lol.

With the rain thrown in it took 30 minutes just to get from 181 to 185 for the trip around and backed up the whole 8 miles into town. It's a #### mess.
