Can your plan be used in any state? Primarily ER?

My suggestion for healthcare for OTR owner operator.

    1. are you single or married?
    2. if you are single then you must have some kind of health insurance to cover your behind. if you are married you need to stay on your spouse's coverage much cheaper.
    3. you need to analyze your current issues health wise to make a sound decision.
    4. if you have relatively good health then the bronze plan would be your best alternative. note that the bronze plan has a lower premium payment but you have a higher deductible and higher out of pocket payments. Can you handle those payments.

    5. at this point you need to determine if you would like to establish a health savings account. many banks offer this service 4 entrepreneurs and business small business owners. if you can put away at least a minimum of $100 per month then that will save you from moderate health expenses.
    6. now if you have health issues it's best to get what is called a silver plan or gold or platinum plans from the state exchanges. now based on your income your premiums will be higher but your out-of-pocket costs will be substantially lower. And you will not have a deductible to pay.
    7. So the other option is not have any kind of medical cost for coverage at all . but be prepared to suffer the consequences and oh yes bankruptcy will not remove those medical cost. they have change the laws that you will be responsible for those medical costs till the day you die.
it comes down to being reasonable in your actions. yes a lot of people are not happy about Obamacare or the Affordable Health Act, but this is the law. and it is working. now you have your personal opinions about it but I guarantee you nobody wants to die because of not having health care. and yes a lot of our forum members are very opinionated about the political system but in this case the political system has nothing to do with it. so ask yourself this question, do you want to stick around to see your grandchildren because of your political views? and trust me I don't disrespect your views but is it going to solve your medical problem at this time?

Item 2 presupposes that wife works or has coverage where she does. If not, then still on the hook to get insurance.

There is really no good option of not carrying medical insurance. the IRS penalties will get you in the long run.

At least my policy grandfathered in under the Obamacare mandates. The requirement was that I had to have the policy when the Act was signed into law (I did), and that it did not change any provision of the policy between Act signed in and taking effect (no change to the policy was made). So I got to avoid the Obummercare mess.

Now that being said, another way to skirt the Obummercare game and get a policy that may not be Obummercare legit, but you are still protected from penalties, is by being in the VA health system. If you are in that, your have met Obummercare mandate, so you can go about your own way and do whatever you want.

You can also opt out of the Obamacare disaster by choosing Medi-share. That way you are not participating in a doomed to fail system. That's what they want and need so much is for healthy people who have good jobs to prop up the house of cards for everyone else. When your government forces you through threats of coercion by fines or basically the barrel of a gun to do something then that is a political thing.

I don't know is that some kind of dig or something? I suppose if you didn't wear those issues on your sleeve you would be fine to participate.
