As a general rule if you never go outside of the 100 air miles you DO not need to log. However all of the requirements of FMCSA as it deals with on duty time are still in force. Only how you keep track of hours change. I'm not an attorney or an expert in the law, but I have always found the definition of a commercial motor vehicle found in part 390.5 to be interesting. Its says a commercial motor vehicle is one that has a GVRW of 10,001 NOT 26,001. If I am reading this correctly you must log in a vehicle over 10,001 GVRW even though you are not required to possess a CDL.
