How come everyone isn't driving for Walmart?

Some drivers do not want to drive a truck equipped with electronic logging devices. Walmart very strict rules on operating their equipment. And not any one company works for everyone. If you want to drive for Walmart, go for it!

 

I don't even shop there, no way in hell I'd ever work for the evil empire... Period.

 

Most DC's you work 5.5 days a week.
They will use every single minute of your 14hr/70hr every day/week.

 

Yeah and being a UPS feeder driver sounded like a good deal too till I worked there. Thought I could handle the micro management and them buster brown uniforms but nope.

 

Maybe they don't want to be assimilated into the collective.

 

I would consider a job with Walmart but the one BIG thing I don't like is their rule on cell phone usage. Telling me how many minutes per hour and total number of minutes a day I can use a cell phone. Driving long hours being able to chat and talk with someone can be a big help staying awake. End the call if traffic or weather require more attention than I am already giving the road. I don't need a company to micromanage that or force me to sign an agreement that any time they want to they can access my cell phone records to enforce that policy.

 

I think that is a good thing.

 

The money is decent but you are dedicating 6 days to them every week. By the time you get back and get to your place you have been out 6 days. You get 1 day off and you are back at it. As a result you have no quality of life, and Thats why I enjoy being an independent. I dont know of any independents that make that kind of money. I am sure there are some but they are a slave to the road or are getting some really good rates. If people were smart, they would go work for them 5 years and save tons of money and pay cash for a house.

 

You must not know very many independents.
