That sounds like some of the very few lucky ones up at the top of the food chain. Without taking into consideration any of the oil field guys. Most guys make less than 50,000 a year driving a truck Unfortunately

    Pork Chop Express Thanks this.

Depends a lot on what type of trucking and also what division hauling for example general freight.OTR drivers I would say get paid the least because they never know from one day to the next how much sitting they do.Least with a dedicated route/customer they know pretty much know what their checks will be every week.I'm seeing more and more companies paying salary.I don't know how much greater it is getting the drivers though. Then many companies pay 40 to 50 cpm but what are the strings attached I wonder.

In this case not really, they were refereing to Walmart drivers making that. They said most drivers make around 40k.But that's still iffy depending who you drive for.

I'm thinking of becoming a trucker (burn out on my IT career)..... but these articles of tens of thousands of drivers needed don't make sense to me. If it's true, then why aren't you existing truckers getting like 3500 miles per week? If there really is a shortage of drivers, you guys should have freight lined up just waiting for a driver to become available for it.

I see a whole lot of trucks parked in the truck stops during the day, more then anytime since the big 2008 to 2009 slump. I doubt they all run at night. But then I got up early and ran low on hours and quit early,
And I don't make that much either, I thought Patty would,,,

I agree, drivers should be getting more miles.Reason they don't is like at mega carriers they hire more drivers then freight, especially the starter company like Werner CRENGLAND and Crst. Then they use trainees for team loads and a lot of times they sit and sit.
