It crazy how few and far between the good experiences are....
Out of 38 in my class at swift academy, I'm the only one still working and enjoying it.
Yet the company just rolled out a write up plan for the camera catches.
I don't get it.... As hard as they work to find and get drivers , they seem to work equally hard at losing them.
I'm still not scared... Cdl jobs are available, at better pay. I will keep doing what I'm doing and enjoying it.
Still feel lucky to be where I'm at, but if the bullets come.... Oh well, maybe a thanks will be in order? -
Be thankful you got a driving job ! Why do people hate Swift ? Camera catch write ups ?

The drive cams catch random stuff when you hit potholes, etc.
So it normally would not be considered a critical event... But they still go off.
If you happen to be doing something on the list you will be written up or termination.
I can't believe how great my experiences have been with this company , but also wonder if I will make the 13 month mark. -
First came hours of service.
Next comes Qualcom for tracking and better communication.
Then electronic logging is added.
Now we have on-board radar for lane and distance control and dual facing camera's.
The next big thing is several trucks in convoy/train formation, with only the lead truck actually driving and controlling all the following trucks - via computer interface. That scares the heck out of me. As it should any SANE person!
This is all in the name of safety, and productivity as well. (Though, not necessarily that of the driver...)
Not much of it really takes into account the physical and mental well being of the driver.
I'm turning 60 in a couple months, so I won't have to put up with any of this for that much longer.
But the younger drivers that are just coming in are in a different situation.
What will it be like 20 years from now?!.
That seems to be the way of progress with the ruling, and out of touch with reality, elite class.
And the one thing that really boggles my mind is...
MM3Deg kept track of the 38 people in that class to that degree; to know that he (or she) was the only one remaining.
How much time did that consume? And, to what end?
But I guess that speaks to the times we live in these days.
Every company is consumed by numbers and stats, and every individual is consumed by personal fluff.
I think computers will be the downfall of human kind, in the end.
And not by AI gone Matrix, or along those lines.
We are sending ourselves into a black hole of never ending information overload. -
Sounds like your enjoying it ?

Today I fueled and in my rush I drove off with the hose still in the tank. Luckily my bulletproof DD15 motor sprung into action and yanked that silly hose right out of the pump with all 450 horses screaming so quietly I heard it.
Take that TA, charging $10 for a bottle of shampoo - shame on you!
Actually I walked inside to the fuel desk with my tail between my legs and to my surprise the response I got from the clerk was, "oh yeah it just slides back together, it happens all the time..."
TA wins again lolSneakerfix Thanks this.
