If you have seen my previous post, (which I'm sure none of you guys have lol) you know that I recently acquired my cdl permit and D.O.T. physical, also that I was looking to work with swift. Well my recruiter at Swift told me that I am in fact no longer approved for the schooling due to my criminal history. This was quite unfortunate considering that before she told me that I was approved and this was months in advance (I made sure to keep in contact with her though.) So I called tons of companies and not very many wanted anything to do with me, until I came across Celadon and Earl Henderson.

Both of these companies told me that I was approved and I'm set to leave to the Quality Drivers school on the 19th of this month, Earl Henderson told me that I'm good to go on the 16th of November.
Celdon doesn't ask criminal history on the application and my recruiter said they have all the info that they need, but I still have a feeling that I might arrive at the school and be sent home the second that they see my criminal history. So luckily I have Earl Henderson to fall back on, and they know of my criminal history as well.

I don't see a lot of info online about these companies, especially not info about someone with a criminal history trying to get into the industry, so I'm going to track my progress with either one of these companies to hopefully give some insight for anyone else in my position. My next update will probably be later this week so stay tuned.

Some info about me: I'm 22, great driving record, great work history, no felonies only misdemeanors, some college education, I only have one accident on my record no citations, damage, or injuries other than myself. That accident is a year old.

    I hope this helps!

    Your username is depressing.

OT; No felonies and you're being DQ'ed? I knew the " driver shortage" stuff was all bunk.

Has Celadon reached out to you yet regarding your application status? Did they ask for your criminal history at all?

Yeah they have told me that I'm good to go to the school, but as far as asking about my criminal history, no they have not.

As I stated before in my previous post, I will be giving you guys updates on my progress with Celadon, in hopes of helping anyone else who might be in the same situation as me. (Check prior posts for more info)

Today I finally got my bus ticket in my email, I'll be headed towards the Indianapolis terminal at 10:00 pm tomorrow. From Atlanta, which unfortunately is going to total a whopping 16 hrs for the trip. After you arrive they tell you to call for a shuttle bus which then picks you up and takes you to the actual terminal, and from my research this bus takes forever, but I'm not complaining; I'm just happy that i was accepted.

There really isn't much more to tell at the moment, I did call a bunch to make sure everything was going according to plan. For a moment it seemed as if my recruiter was avoiding me. Nothing more other than that though. Ill continue to keep you all posted on my progress with this company and Ill be sure to include links at the bottom of the post so you guys can check prior posts. The posts are going to be listed from first to last.

The bus ride to put it short, wasn't the best time and it's pretty expensive to eat at those greyhound bus stops. Anyways, I arrived at the greyhound in Indianapolis after a trip of about 10hrs, so our time was good. At my arrival I called the number to get the bus to come pick me up, I didn't have to wait long to be picked up. The bus took us to the Hotel in Greenfield Indiana, (the dorms were book at the school). The guys were already leaving for lunch so the attendant told us to go ahead and get some food and we'll have our rooms ready when we got back.

When we got to the school, we checked in with the nice lady in the front and she kind of gave us a briefing and we then went to the cafeteria. The school seems to offer a select few items for free but charges for others, and the charge as far as I've found out isn't very much; but I've yet to buy a meal.

The food was actually pretty awesome and it comes with a free fountain drink as well. I had a pepperoni pizza and it was really good. We then were take back to the Hotel, given our room cards, and briefed on hotel policies, wifi, and when breakfast starts. They also have sheets in the front showing when the bus comes and goes and everything else pertaining to that.
The hotel was really nice, I have a queen sized bed and its memory foam as well. In the hotel I have a fridge, microwave, desk, a flat screen tv, and a smaller chair; like a small sofa.
The next day, Well today (10/19/2015) I woke up at 5:45 to catch breakfast and take a shower before school. The driver was actually late getting us to school, and we were standing outside in the cold waiting. It was absolutely freezing to say the least, lol nothing like Georgia weather. We eventually were picked up and taken to the school, when I arrived we went to the cafeteria. A couple of instructors came into the cafeteria, gave us some info and then we went to the classroom.

In the classroom a couple of people came to speak to us about the school. First this lady named Christine, she told us about the contract and the phases of training with the program. Then we spoke to this man, who was head of security and gave us some info on the policies inside of the school. They took my license, cdl permit, and social security card and made copies. They checked my D.O.T. physical to make sure it wasn't expired, and then gave me this Celadon binder. They also gave me this; I guess you could say, Celadon necklace to wear. It has a laminate slip where they want you to hold your D.O.T. card, license, and permit at at all times.

Since I have my permit and D.O.T. already I was sent for my drug test almost immediately. I then returned to class and our teacher was going over the first part of the cdl Manuel to help the other students pass the permit test. Im now sitting in the cafeteria waiting to return to class. They also mentioned that we will be signing our contracts either today or tomorrow so I will give an update on that when I get a chance.
I will keep tracking my progress throughout this program, so tune in, ill be sure to provide pictures and links from my previous posts.
