Copy that! Owner Operator is where the rubber meets the road in this game. I've literally seen the numbers from other drivers who are O/Ops and nine times out of ten they are very impressive.

If a guy (or gal) tells payroll early on that he/she wishes to opt out of per diem on his/her settlement, they will. I imagine they don't do it automatically because they wouldn't be able to advertise $1,200 per week. If I told you that you would earn $695 per week hauling hazardous waste or explosives, as a member of a team, away from home for seven days a week, would you do it?

I would think the nature of the job ought to pay better,.ran across an ad that paid teams as company driver's .70 cpm with a DoD security clearance. sounds about the same with all the to do's

Everything posted in this ad is correct. The situation this team is referring to is that the base pay starts lower until you have your security clearance due to the fact that, up until that point, you can only haul certain loads. We have been at this company for almost 3 years and have had nothing but positive experiences. You can opt out of the per diem if you so choose. The numbers here are for drivers that have their security clearance. You can't expect full pay if you cannot fully do the job.

But, that is only the base pay and it is BEFORE you get your security clearance. We run an average of 3500 miles per week AS A TEAM. You aren't going to make $1050+ per week per driver anywhere else for those low Mike's. What drivers need to understand is that we haul specialty freight and therefore rarely work weekends and holidays. In those cases, we are still being paid to sit. We have a lot of short runs. Heck there are weeks where I don't even drive and my husband does it all, yet we still being home TWO guaranteed minimum paychecks!

Right. So add $20 daily to the $95 daily for a weekly total of $805. I'm no mathematician, but the numbers aren't the same.

We have never been lied to at SLT. I'm thinking these drivers did not get all of the facts together. How can you expect full pay when you do not have your security clearance? It takes time to get clearances and I don't trust anybody who cannot even understand how per diem works. They could have opted out of it and paid higher taxes. Perhaps they should educated themselves on how it works. Our recruiting department is also retention, why would they want to create problems for themselves. It costs a lot of money to FLY drivers to orientation and to apply for their security clearances. Also, why would you NOT expect to have to pay for property you removed from a company's truck? Chances are, the CB worked fine they just didn't know that you control the volume through the Qualcomm. This entire post sounds like a disgruntled driver who is mad because they got fired, likely because they could not obtain their security clearance.

You are paid $150 per day. Per diem counts as pay. You could have opted out and paid higher taxes.
