training portion finally over. little nervous to be out on my own but im sure itll be fine. got assigned an almost brand new freightliner with 26000 miles on it. had to spend last night in the hotel as it was going into the shop for some things and now im at the yard just waiting for it to be detailed, be another hour or so.
Tuesday: was a looooong day. started out going to all the different rail yards in chicago, BNSF, NS, CSX etc. then took our load up to appleton and also visited green bay iirc, met the staff. was a very late night and was exhausted but had trouble sleeping so was even more tired today. regular hotel was full so had to go to the overflow hotel, which was the gateway down on 95th street, not bad. and then found out the old cliche really is true. thin walls equals hearing couples while theyre in bed. xD
Wednesday: basically same thing, except didnt go to green bay so didnt get any of the free food they had up there for driver appreciation week. then heard later at night about getting assigned the truck. finished in chicago, found out my truck had to go in the shop for some things so i couldnt stay in it. went to carlton and rested up and slept in, left around 2. told ill be taking an empty and heading home since i picked friday-saturday as my days off.
overall been ok so far. ive said it before ill say it again, this fleet is VERY flexible. you can set your start times and if you want certain days off you just have to ask and they should tell you that you can but that youll have to make it up by working a day you otherwise wouldnt have been working. so, so far having good feelings.
