So a year later finally had the windshield replaced. Safelite came to my house and had it done in an hour for $215.07 not bad at all. A lot better than the headache and hassle going to the dealer even though they were about the same price.

I have a chip in both windshields. Supposedly my insurance offers two a year, but the chips aren't in my line of sight, so I have just put it off until I really need it.

Had my windshield on t680 replaced last week at our shop. Outside glass company came to us. Lots of wind and squeaking noises now.. driving me nuts with the noise.. I'm sure they used the old seal because it looks faded and weathered. I don't see any water leaks but now have that moisture smell when it rained on Monday..
Any one else had tweathered after windshield replacement? -
The seal is re-usable. I think the next time I have my windshield replaced i'm going to have a new seal installed. My windshield has always had slight leakage in heavy downpours on the left/driver's side. I have heard of leaky windshields causing corrosion issues in the fuse box of KW's and this does concern me.

That's common for a KW to leak there, even with a new seal. Local KW dealer here always puts some windshield caulk in that area after installing the new glass.
rollin coal Thanks this. -
It's only common for them to leak if the guy that installed it didn't do it right.
As far as price goes, it will depend on if the way the windshield is held in.
Some are "roped" in, some are glued. If it is glued in the truck should sit overnight so the glue can cure.
There are also different qualities of glass. The cheaper ones are usually "softer" and therefore pit easier. -

If you DIY you can take the time to inspect and thoroughly clean the seal and even clean and paint any corrosion that be hiding underneath the seal.
The only time mine didn't leak was when I DIY. For your one piece I'd buy those suction cups, a case of beer and call a friend to help.
One thought is to avoid buying trucks with one piece windshields. -
rollin coal I was told years ago that silicone is a glass man's worst nightmare. I am guessing this is because the glass and seal won't stick to the body or each other.
I found that a one piece windshield is fantastic to drive - no obstructions in your field of view. This is also true of the cabover Petes with three windshield wipes.
