Oh it's that time of year! ;)

I joined the company January 1, 2014. Let me tell ya.... It hasn't always been easy.

Barr Nunn in a whole is a great company. Anywhere from the team leaders to safety who nags on you about sending in dvi's. I've received 4 pay raises in an year and a half. How we lately I've seen my miles drop, but I do have a new team leader so that is kind of expected.

There has been times where I thought about quitting. I think most truckers think about quitting their company more often than not. However whenever I think about quitting I take a moment to reflect and review how Barr Nunn has been an amazing company to work for over the past.

They've never griped about how long I want my home time for. Even if I didn't earn the days off (for example staying home for four days after staying out 2 weeks ). I know some companies want you to take a 34 hr at home and no more.

Barr Nunn has been true to their word about most things... To be honest I can't think of anything they've promised and haven't delivered on. They've raised their referral program so high that someone could recruit two drivers a month and make a living that way.

I am however thinking about leaving, but only because I have no where to park the truck when I'm home. Having to go with company has a terminal near me so I can park the truck and car their. But if it wasn't for that issue, Barr Nunn would have me for a longggg time.

Update: didn't leave the company. Moving to another place where parking won't be an issue. Yes... I'm moving for Barr Nunn.

    Barr-nunn home time...
Can you drop your MT trailer at a local truck stop, secure with kingpin lock, and take cab home?
    Thanks

My friend, can I ask you a stupid question?
    Average per week?

Just to be a honest player here is my average per week with Voyager sinve I started a month ago after all expenses besides repairs:

    916.09
    1864.34
    1559.98
    1980.83
    3938.32

Last week is not completed and I will probably get 500$ fuel

Yes, moving to New Tampa /Wesley chapel area.

I do know that those who don't live in Florida may be asked to bring a load home with them, and there is a huge check list for that. I can't say how often that happens to non-Florida drivers.

I can honestly say that if you have a problem taking a trailer home with you (mt or loaded) they work with you. For example I haven't been able to take an mt home with my for 6 months due to recent parking restrictions.

I didn't hear one complaint about it. Just communicate what's going on and they are amazing to work with.

No question is stupid ;) however I can't answer that because I'm a company driver. However I can tell you I am currently sitting behind a o/o (he's parked in front of me). He only runs southeast, goes home on the weekends, and takes a vacation every 3 months. He's been with the company for... I believe a couple years as an o/o.

Young Gun are you still liking Barr- Nunn. I live a little North of you in Florida. I am looking for a Good Company that doesn't play game. Unlike the Company I just left after 6 months. A few questions for you. What is the current Speed? Do you have inverters or apus? Are you allowed to idle or do you have idle parameters? Are the trucks all 10 speeds? How hard is it getting home to Florida? What is the percentage of drop and hook? Do you run most nights?
Sorry ask so many questions but I have over 10 years exp. and have been with those crappy companies to include the big green one out of VA

Still with barr Nunn, and still think they're the best otr company I've worked it. Are they perfect? Hell no, but they aren't a mega carrier and that counts for alot.

    Now on to your questions!

The current speed is a whooping 64 mph. It was raised recently from 61.

There was a message from the CEO a couple weeks back telling us new equipment is on the way. Pro stars with Cummins isx and condo Cascadias with dd 12 automatic transmissions. Not real sure how I feel about that one.

However each are coming with inventors and battery powered apu. As of now only team trucks have built in inventors. And no eta on the new equipment. However.... Brand new drivers are getting new trucks outta orientation. Lucky ducks. One got a 2900 series. (Newest series of the fleet). Condo Cascadia. Tried to sweet talk myself into it. No luck.

All 10 speeds for now but as fore mentioned above, autos are a coming.

Idle is basic ambient temperature sensor governed.

How hard is it to get into Florida? Not very. We have a crap ton of freight that comes down here. FedEx, DHL, whirlpool, and ups being the top. They let me BT from Jacksonville or Miami to go to Pasco. I have been late getting home a few times but not bad considering.

I live unloaded for the first time the other day in what seems like 6 months. Seriously... Can't remember my last LUL.
Doesn't mean it won't happen or that it wouldn't happen a couple times in a row. Just saying it's been awhile.

I stick to guns when they try to bull crap me into nights. For the example : had a load that finished at 13:00 they had a split that would meet me at 00:00 to run 591 miles. I did it. Miles were to good to say no. Next morning I delivered and waa going to shut down by noon. They had a pre plan that had a split set to meet me at 22:00 for 401 miles.

That's when I said no, and my team leader knows me by now and didn't argue. Had a pre plan the next morning a 7:30am going 300 miles then had to run off 148 mile dh for next pu that goes 555 miles tomorrow.

So in short, yes you will run nights but if you want off them... Tell your team leader. They are good about switching you off for a week or so.

As far general feelings of the company, they haven't changed from what I wrote. Months ago.

Some days I'm happy as hell. Others I'm browsing Craigslist. But I've happier here than anywhere else.

    Hope that helps.
