I dont know if this matters, but although I am not a driver yet (currently looking into the different companies). I do however have knowledge and experience with the trucking world (helps to have a family memeber that had 50+years in the industry) I think that i am the exception the new generation of truckers, I flash over drivers when they pass me to let them know they are clear. I keep a neat clean appearance and always take a shower and will continue to do so until showers are out lawed lol. Well that is my 2 cents.

I worked with individuals who were "conscripted" while stationed in Germany. There's a whole world of difference in attitudes between those that were "drafted" and those that volunteered. Gimme the volunteer please!Muleskinner and Lurchgs Thank this. -
I gotta tell ya, I would have laughed harder if it wasn't so true. If you ever stop rolling, be a writer. Funny stuff and oh so true.
Muleskinner Thanks this. -
That being said, I resent the comments about camo shorts lol. I wear them a LOT but I think it's just because I miss my uniform. They are however clean and fit me just like the rest of my clothes and myself. My face is shaved every #### morning when I wake up (habits are hard to break) and I am ALWAYS clean aside from once in a blue moon I am dispatched so #### tight I can't take a shower for a day, it's rare but it does happen once in a while.
I have to agree though, there are a lot of dirty ### people in trucks these days. I even hear random smack talk over the radio from time to time because when I pull in for the night, my truck gets cleaned up if possible, I wipe down the outside and take out the trash/sweep/blow out the inside. I can't live in disarray no matter how "easy" it might be. I am impressed when I am in the fuel island and the dude next to me is living in such filth I can see what he has eaten for the last 3 weeks because it's piled all the way to his passenger seat. It's not just new guys though, I see multiple million milers with some companies who are pigs as well (one of them was my trainer when I first got my license) and I just don't understand it. Sure the living conditions aren't the same as being at your house but that's no excuse not to walk to 100 yards inside to take a leak instead of behind your drive tires where I might have to squat in it to get some dunnage off my landing gear the next day. I can't stand the #### smell in the back of the parking lot, the bathroom, or anywhere else just because it smells like many of the third world countries I had the privilege to visit while I was in the military but just because they are pigs, I still don't have to be.
I will continue to keep myself and my truck clean as long as I am on the road one way or another.Lurchgs and Muleskinner Thank this. -
Granted, we, too, had our share of idiots. At least the AF was fairly quick in getting rid of the majority of them. -
I wanted to do it all, I got hurt, knee was completely gone because I was hard headed and put off surgery to take a deployment out as NCOIC and when I got back and had surgery, I had waited too long and there was nothing they could do to fix it so I got the boot.
I am pretty upset about it since I loved it and had no desire to leave but I let pride and hard headedness put me out.
