I figured I would start a new thread and post my experiences running the system since that is what I am doing now. Was running Dow loads before and it was the same thing over and over. Nothing ever new to report.

I had quit Superior earlier in the year (huge mistake) to take a local job near the house. It did not pan out so long story short here I am back at Superior and do not plan on leaving until I retire.

Anyway, I went through the few days of training required by the company and was issued a ProStar. My first load out was a load going to Ontario Canada. Well the truck did not even make it to Kentucky headed up I-75 and broke down on me. Surprise, right?! Had it towed back to Knoxville and the terminal manager rented me a car the next day to come back to Morrow. He had a Mack waiting on me that another driver had just gotten out of. Worked on getting it cleaned up on a Thursday, 10/29.

Picked up a loaded trailer off the Morrow yard on 10/30 going to a paper mill in Augusta GA delivering the same day. Got that delivered and had a loaded trailer waiting on me out of the Augusta terminal going to Toledo OH for a Monday 11/2 delivery. Picked that trailer up and made it to Thomson GA that evening. Got up Saturday and drove to Winder where I keep my tractor and took the rest of Saturday off.

Got up early on Sunday a.m. 11/1 and headed for Ohio. Parked in Lima OH for the night, about 60 miles from my Monday 11am delivery. Got to my delivery at about 10:30. Glad I did. I had to go down the street to scale the truck loaded. That information was not on the travel order for some reason. It needs to be added. Anyway, got finished unloading, had to run back down the street and get an empty weight, go back to the receiver and get paperwork signed.

Got tank washed to Cincinatti and spent the night there at the terminal. Had an empty trailer assigned to me to go get loaded on Tuesday 11/3 at the rail yard about 20 miles from the terminal. That load was going to Reidsville NC for a Wednesday 11/4, morning 6am delivery. Made it to the TA off of I-40 about an hour from the delivery. Got up early and made it to my delivery at about 5:45am. Got in there at 6am on the dot. Got a nice surprise at that place. Scale trailer and drop it. Did not have to wait around on it to get unloaded.

Went ahead and cruised on back to the High Point NC terminal about 30 miles from the delivery. It was still early in the a.m. so no one was in the office yet. I hung out in the new drivers room for a while until dispatch got in. He said all he had for me was a load going to Dalton GA for a Friday 11/6 delivery. I was low on hours on my 70 so I figured might as well take it and go home for the weekend. Picked up 10 hours of layover waiting to pick up my load Thursday morning. That was sweet.

Swung by the house on the way back and spent the night then got up early and drove up to Dalton GA to make my 11/6 delivery at 10am. I left Winder at 6am and it took me 2 hours to get to I-285 which is about 20 miles or so from Winder. Traffic was a holy nightmare yesterday morning. Made it to Dalton at 9:45am. I did not have to do anything on that unload. Plant did it all which was nice. The sun was shining up there the whole time.

Got done unloading at 11:30 and headed back down I-75 to drop the trailer at the tank wash. Got down to Cobb county and it was raining pretty good and as usual everyone lost their dang mind and traffic was jacked up again. Got south of Atlanta and ran out of the rain. Thought I would have it made going back to Winder after I dropped my trailer. Got the trailer dropped at Morrow and took off for Winder.

Ran into some rain once I got back up to I-285 and as fate would have it I got caught in an 8 mile back up trying to get around the south side of 285. Finally made it back to Winder somewhere between 5-6pm. I was glad to be out of that truck and traffic. Off for the weekend. Told dispatch I would be ready to go back out on 11/9.

We might have crossed paths in High Point. I grabbed a trailer Wednesday 11/4 around 09:30 and ran out and back to Washington In.

I hate Atlanta traffic with a passion. Definitely my top 1 or 2 worst places to drive, Toronto being the other contender. And yes I drive through NYC sometimes 4 times a week...

Well heck. I was either in the break room or out at that wash bay washing my truck. I wonder how I missed you. I am sure I will be through there again at some point.

Yes, Toronto and Montreal are nightmares. Went up there with that last company. I was ready to murder somebody by the time I got out of there. Atlanta traffic definitely blows. I can't help but wonder doesn't anyone work anymore? Like actually go to work at a place of business and stay there for 8 hrs? People are on the roads nowadays like 24/7 just riding around...

I've noticed that on Friday it seems like nobody works. Just mayhem all day long. Also that scaling thing started fairly recently, I'll mention it to the dispatcher that the scale information needs to be added. ;)

I second Toronto on being horrible. It's like they issue drivers licenses from a vending machine up there.

Are your macks Standard or Automatic? Also, is superior ever going to phase out the internationals? That's a real turn off if I ever thought of going there.

The Prostars are being phased out as we speak. I'm not sure how long it will take to replace them all though. Maybe a year? New trucks are 80% Mack and 20% Peterbuilt. All of the Macks have been manuals, but the Petes are automatics. There's another thread that mentions a new Mack having an automatic as well. Superior will be switching to all automatics eventually since they supposedly get better gas mileage.

Ah I see. I use to get 7.2 in my kenworth while pulling reefer. Since entering tanks with an automatic Mack can't do better then 6.5
