Well, the e-log doesn't register if you are in a seat. Look, I am not going to argue if doing something like this is legit. It isn't. But I am not going to tick off minutes on an E-log waiting a half hour for a train to get moving at a R/R crossing, a bunch of LEO's to quit talking about their love life and finally open up a lane for traffic to get moving, etc. If I am stopped for more than a few minutes, I am going to off duty on the E-log. It won't kick back in to Driving until I the again exceed 25 mph or travel more than a mile. So all of that little creeping along the road non-sense due to the backup, well, that is off duty also. But that seems rather tame compared to running multiple paper logs, doing quickie calculator things to log time based on miles divided by speed limit stuff, and a host of other things most of us have done at one time or another on paper if we have been in this game for a several years. If someone else doesn't feel right doing it this way, then don't! Simple, eh! I am not advocating how anyone does their logs. It is their business. Someone wants to toe the line and do everything 100% by the book. Great. Live long and prosper.
scottied67 and flood Thank this. -
my company elog has line 5 but they have it turned off
when I need to bobtail on my OFF TIME.... 10 hr.-34 hr. I just turn off the truck then turn off the elog, open the side box and UNPLUG the dam thing, do what I need to do (store, shower, eat, motel) then when I'm done I just go back to where I unplugged it and plug it back in...... massage "did you drive XXX miles" I hit NO...... logs has never called me about it -
You get a massage with your Qualcom? Nice.

if I say NO it will show it as a anomaly BUT doesn't show on my log...(driving with no login) same as if I put the truck in the shop and I log off and the shop takes the truck for a test drive.......no record of WHEN the truck was driven just that the trucks millage changed and because I turn it off BEFORE I unplug it, it has no record of the power being unpluged -
Hearing more and more from drivers on Elogs that as soon as they push the air brakes in the Elog converts to Drive time. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't garner such huge violation points and fines say you arrive at the customer with an hour left on you 14 and they call you to docks 2 hours later boom violation.

If you get into an accident and your using off duty driving. The insurance doesn't have to cover you.
Just like if you deliver then go to house empty. You are not under dispatch.
They don't have to cover you. Even if you log is on duty.
You have to read the insurance policy.
To keep cost of insurance down. You tell them your truck will be under dispatch 100% of the time.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
