    lol..
dude, half my family lives in Long Island.
Been in and out of there many times.

I've been in a truck through LA, Chicago, Atlanta, DC, Dallas, Charlotte, Phoenix etc all during rush hour.. along with many other places.
Nothing compares to the horror of NYC.

All you guys trying to be super truckers on the internet saying oh NYC is just like every other big city...
    What a joke

NYC is the most populated city in this country.. some compared it to Chicago.
NYC metro has double the population vs Chicago metro

Go ahead keep saying it's just a "little traffic" or just like "any other big city"
Numbers on the other hand tell a different story.:p

When I do NYC I always prepare by asking for the final destination address and looking in google earth with 3D imagery. This will help you plan your entry and departure

If.you're scared, stay out of there... You are doing the right thing because driving scared leads to problems, however, that you are afraid does not mean others are Super Truckers because they are not intimidated by it, and recognize it or what it is. City Driving.

As of 2012 56% of New York Residents did not have cars. That brings the traffic density back in line with other large cities.

Why? Because some of you are afraid to drive in the big city?

A guy came on here asking what to expect on his first trip into the city, and rather than offering helpful suggestions, some of you felt the need to tell him it's a horror, don't do it etc.

He may not be afraid. Why would you say things to either try to scars him or suggest he doesn't do it? It's not like thousands of trucks don't do it every day.

If your scared, stay out of there. Others not being intimidated, once again, does not make them Super Truckers.

as a person that makes his living going to nyc this are the rules to follow

    1. if coming from the south or west make sure you hit the gwb before 6 its only 67.50 or go in thru staten island if going anywhere in long island
    2. nobody knows how to drive and turning signals are just another lever that they don't like using
    3. exit the highway as close to your destination as you can
    4. watch out when turning they like parking too close to the curbs.
    5. theres no turning right on red.
    6 stick to truck routes.
7 driving in nyc is not worth the money unless you are from this area

Wow really who said traffic is be all and end all.

    What about truck parking
The amount of low clearance all over the place
old beat up roads, tight roads etc etc

Yes I will agree.. numbers don't lie.

Companies have to literary offer paying extra money on loads into the NYC area.
Crete it was $150 when I worked for them.

That's how truly terrible it is for truck drivers.
In job listings all over it's either "no forced NYC" and/or extra money if you take a load in.
Please tell me how many more cities offer extra money and no forced dispatch by OTR companies to go into?
Yeah exactly.... numbers don't lie. End of story.

Bean Jr. and White_Knuckle_Newbie Thank this.
