No contradiction my friend. I was working OT not long ago and making deliveries from the Bay Area to LA just a few weeks ago. Family time was after 30 days or only weekends making those deliveries to LA.
Even with OT now I'll still be going home every day. Get what I'm saying ?
I just got hired by USF Reddaway

People are dying to work at the port. Its hard to get in there. Who did you work for? I dont think you were a longshoreman. Probably a container hauler there. I was going to say, youd be crazy to give up a longshoreman job up for usf reddaway.
TequilaSunrise and Giuseppe Ventolucci Thank this. -
It's actually not hard to find work. All you need is a TWIC card and somebody willing to hire you and there's a lot of guys looking for drivers at that placeUpright Thanks this. -

I like the work there, but that's probably cuz I didn't have to wait all day in line with the containers for the other terminals -
I'm probably far off topic, but what's a longshoreman?
I'm very new to trucking, but there's no way I'm sticking with this company after my contracts up, unless I get a lot more pay. I haul a reefer from Indio to SF and Petaluma twice a week for crap pay and no benefits. What's it take to find something better? -
Giuseppe Ventolucci Thanks this.

If you live in the Bay Area, you should definitely go for your TWIC card and look on Craigslist for driver positions. There's many guys with trucks looking to hire new CDL drivers. If you have a clean record you have a good chance to land a job working for a big or smaller company at this port. I know there's money to be made here.
My only warning is that you really have to be patient once you're in line to get into the terminals. This is one of the reasons I'm not staying.GiantBeard Thanks this. -
