Well it's one of the things that really made me feel confident about the purchase, Penske keeps, and will show you the maintenance records on any of their trucks. If you look at their used trucks for sale, you pull the maintenance records on any of them, right on line.
Heavy does a point about the fleets pushing PM's out to 45K. They've done that since I got into this in '05, but its also within Freightliner & DD guide lines. I had an old prime truck that ran great and never used a drop of oil.
But you don't need an in frame to be a money pit in my opinion. Turbo, compressor, injectors, oil cooler, EGR cooler, radiator, water pump, steering parts, that can all eat up time and money too.
They have a few with the same mileage / year that have eaten 2 or 3 turbos, or radiator assemblies for God only knows what reason / just wasn't quite machined right or something I guess.
I talked to the service manager at the Volvo dealership in Phoenix, he said for best results with the DPF filter get it cleaned annually ( $800 to $1,000 ) and they keep the truck for nearly two days. He said 250K miles is the max for that service. And the filter on this truck was just serviced.
I'm a PM guy, so I can live with that, it is what it is.
The Cascadia I just got rid of got an overall of 7 MPG, so my DEF cost worked out to $.01 / mile.
All opinions and information are welcomed. Knowledge is power. I'm pretty thick skinned.
I mean I know you guys, or most of you have had sex with my first ex, and your not mentioning it, but it's OK, really.

    KAK Thanks this.

No negative intention intended. I did say good luck with the truck. I have for years always posted what I thought would be helpful, being good ,bad or ugly. never intent on negativity. though that can happen. most on here who have read my posts over the years know my character. those of us who are leased & have dispatchers know all about lies & negative comments, but we don't cry over them. it's life.

start saving for a repair fund. Volvo dealers are few and far between, and they know it. the ONE item you can count on doing is an EGR valve. and there's two of them. figure about $1100-1600 per depending on where you are. Also, think about cutting out the EGR's by installing a block. will help in the long run, as the engine runs cooler and egr's last longer. do a search on how to do it here on the site. I have 1,165,000 on my D-12 with the original injectors and turbo, so these engines run for a while, but I also service the truck every 13-15000. good luck with your purchase!

What year is the truck Dave? Did they already do the injector cups upgrade? Was the fan clutch replaced as well?

Is it the full size Volvo with the window in the sleeper or is it the mini Volvo with the air vent in the sleeper?

Well microsift did some massive update to my PC last night so I'm having a heck of a time up loading a picture. Just got my temp tags, on the way to Volvo to get a bug screen for the grille to protect the ac condenser.
    I'll be BACK.
