That's funny.
I don't care who you are, but that is funny.
One thing I don't understand is why you are OK with the camera being a local driver, but not if you were OTR.
You already have this thing on your truck...
Is it the constant 'on-duty' of the camera while you are off duty?
It can be covered during those times.
The sound? That can be covered by a white noise device, so I'm told.
Even so, it shouldn't trigger an event unless the truck is bounced around.
And yes, I know. It is a camera with WiFi connected to the QC, and so can be spied upon at any time. (That was one of the lies.)
But unless some flunky/pervert wants to watch you jerk off or listen to a conversation at the exact moment it is happening...
And guess what?
I don't care.
I talk to my daughters and sister, and that's about it.
And if someone wants to watch a 60 year old do something else, well, the camera will be covered.

Ok you ask why I stay as a Swift local driver. As a local driver I can bring my truck home, no hot seating. There is no terminal here, we work out of a 3rd companys yard which is just a big fenced in area with a single wide office (not ours). I can often make my own schedule. Usually I have a pre-plan for the next day, I can plan accordingly. I have weekends off if I want them. Usually I do want them off but do work if needed. We get paid pretty well. This Tuesdays is $1427 gross. I don't give net, we all have different taxes and insurance. I'm home every night. This makes me tolerate the camera.
If I ran OTR there are plenty of companies that pay more than Swift and do not have cameras. But I don't want to run OTR so I have to take the camera. I don't have to like it. -
We differ in our priorities.
My home times are split between CO and MN, so local anything would not suit me.
Being OTR I can get to my actual 'home' every couple months and see my sister, who is the last surviving member of 'our' family. And I can get to see my daughters every other month as well.
You have a good thing going, though.
So do I, in my own corner of the world.
I don't think any of us like the camera, except when it is only facing forward. That is a good thing - for most of us.
And I could probably make more per mile with another company. I certainly have the experience for it.
But I know the system here, and other drivers from other companies that I've spoken with have made me realize that I am probably in the right place for now. -
I'm not disparaging your choice to be working for Swift Moose, you know the system. Hell I know it too and have not done OTR in over a year. I'm just saying that I could not do it. I wasn't trying to be arguementive, sorry if I came off that way.

Sorry if I sounded that way. I didn't mean to.
To me it just seemed like a back and forth discussion. -

I've been trying to come up with some funny 'wylie coyote ' signs for my camera shots.
I'm not really local, but I do run regular routes and know where the spots are that set the camera off.
So far I just been acting like I trying to catch some air.... And telling the camera.. "YES!! I think I caught some air on that one"
Getting fired for pretending to jump an 18 wheeler, would be the coolest story I would love to tell in a job interview. -
Someone needs to find a hack to the wifi interface.
It would be so cool to insert a few cartoon clips in place of the real footage, like wylie coyote falling from a cliff to a splat-down.ethos, Nameless One and MM3Deg Thank this.
