My wife and I both worked for Big G for several years (we actually met while both working there). It's a great great company, and I don't say that lightly. The only reason we left is because of OTR burnout. If I ever get knocked on the head and decide to go OTR again, they are the only place I would consider. PM me if you want more details.

I would like to give Big G a try, but they don't hire up here in MI.

I do know that they do not go west at all.

A friend of mine works there now. He is happy.......Well, as happy as he gets.

I have a call in to Big G recruiting, gonna chat with them later.

TB, I showed your comment to The Hot Chick and she snorted tea out her nose.

    Now she's irritated--at ME.

    Thanks.

Just got off the phone with Midwest ops director. Results of investigation:

Seems there were some things being done that should not have been done because a certain individual was upset with me for overturning his decision and he tried to force his will on me and it didn't take (my words not his). Then apparently this person took an unhealthy interest in my life.

Said person is no longer with the organization.

I've gotten more miles since Saturday than the past two weeks combined. If this takes and the BS is back to normal trucking levels of mere occasional annoyances, then I'm satisfied and am not going anywhere (goodbye, Godzilla the Chihuahua).

Guard is still up for a while, though.

Phone call was encouraging. Then I got another 300 mile day.

I know, still early after that revelation. Still, in light of everything, I'm giving them til the end of the month.

This is as good as it's getting. Right here. This is it. Call that guy's extension from the other night. I'll bet he's still there and there's a lot of truth to what he said. I hope you're all packed up and ready to go, because this isn't changing. Not at the end of the month and not ever. This is Heartland Express. The only people that aren't expendable are the shareholders.

<Heavy sigh> Yeah...starting to see that. Looks like Heartland has locked their tentacles into Gordon's ops and is running a once great long haul driver's company.

GTI is hemorrhaging drivers. Before a month ago when I showed up at a terminal the mood in the lounge was always upbeat and conversation ranged across a wide variety of topics. For the past month every GTI terminal has been a dark sullen place--and what little conversation there is, is about how lousy things have gotten. Last time I was in Indy there were four drivers actively looking for work. I told my dispatcher this and she wasn't surprised.

I can't believe I'm talking like this myself, but I'm so broke I'm probably going to have to take an advance to pay for my wife's medications!! Not since the 80's have I experienced $350-450/wk as the norm. I left Celadon because the CPM rate is low, but I was bringing home twice what I'm making now. Elsewhere in this thread someone said that the "M" part of the equation is just as important as the "C." How right you were.

My main beef with the big blue "C" was the pay, which they've addressed after losing too many people like me (Wage Lock). Hot Chick and I have been comparing everything, including the places we've been checking out the past few days, to working there--and we think it may be time to go back.

I know I gotta do SOMETHING before this thread gets moved over to the "Whine About a BAD Trucking Company Here."

DISCLAIMER: I WILL STILL NOT BAD MOUTH GORDON, EXCEPT TO SAY THAT THEIR OPERATIONS HAS GONE TO HADES AFTER HEARTLAND BEGAN RUNNING THEIR DRIVERS. THE NEGATIVE POSTS ARE ABOUT MY PERSONAL BAD EXPERIENCE, NOT ABOUT GORDON AS A COMPANY. THE ENVIRONMENT HAS CHANGED DRAMATICALLY AND QUICKLY AND I AM NOT COMPATIBLE, AND RATHER THAN ENGAGING IN AN ON LINE HATE FEST I AM, AFTER MUCH DELIBERATION, CHANGING MY ENVIRONMENT TO ONE IN WHICH I AM MORE COMFORTABLE. IF YOU WANT TO RUN REGIONAL AND GET HOME A LOT THEN THESE GUYS ARE PROBABLY WORTH A LOOK. I REPEAT, I AM NOT BAD MOUTHING GORDON; I AM (QUITE RELUCTANTLY) CHANGING COMPANIES BECAUSE I DO NOT LIKE THE DIRECTION THE CORPORATION IS HEADED.

I hope that makes my position clear to anyone who suspects I'm sinking into the quagmire of negativity--my posts have been downers lately.

Guess the short version is, I'd love to stay but I can't afford to.

Dominick253 and TB John Thank this.

Talk to @tow614. He went to Big G after trying out SEC after 5 years at GTI. The truth is Zoomy, many of us were at GTI and GTI was once a great company. With Heartland (Heartless) at the helm now, the great Gordon Trucking is no more. It's barely there in name only. November 11, 2013 was a sad day for many GTI drivers, and some are now coming to terms with what's actually going on there. Hey, you came, you gave 'em hell, and now it's time to bow out. No shame in that game. I think if you try Big G, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the pay, the benefits, the equipment. If I didn't have what I have at Lessors, I'd go too. Good luck.
