That's not too bad. Your pay goes up pretty quickly there. My old trainee is still at Swift. 11 years he's been there. He's out of the Syracuse, NY terminal. Might wanna give it go. You have to look at the big picture and only you can make up your mind. People bash Swift regularly, but hurting people, hurt people! I say go for it. You'll do the right thing. It's a job and you're looking for one.

Yeah I do. Just keep in mind, you'll have many variables. Breakdowns, waiting for loads, weather, bad directions, construction and so on. However, the more ya go, the more ya know. It will take time to get your groove. Once you do, your pay goes up, your planning is refined, things just click. Then you can make a good living. I've been out a week now. Left the house with 50.00 cash. Still have 27.00. In order to make a living you can't spend money every time you stop. I have all I need when I leave the house. When I get to where I'm going, I put on my florescent vest and go for a long walk to keep fit. Its not a bad life. Its all what you make of it. You're gonna be fine.

Even if you have to spend two weeks with a trainer somewhere else, it would be worth it if they're going to pay you significantly more. What's two weeks in the grand scheme of things? If you've never done otr, it would also help you to be more profitable in a shorter amount of time. You would learn a little about the company's system, dealing with dispatch, dealing with shippers, etc. It'll be a steep learning curve if you've never run an otr truck before.

Just my thoughts on the matter, but I think looking long term, you'd be better off going with a better company and doing a short stretch with a trainer from that company.

I was informed about BT Express Global Services in Weatherford,OK that's a small flatbed company with about 30 trucks. Driver told me he works there and really likes it.

TransAm trainer period is about 11 or 12 days.
