I made a post a month or so ago about a gremlin that I cannot find, nor has anyone (including a Freightliner service manager) been able to shed any light on what it could be. This is a continuation of me throwing parts at it hoping to find something, as all other logical ideas have already been exhausted. Well, I have a question about the TRS (crank) sensor on a 2006 Detroit 14L. I have found many posts where these sensors have caused an engine not to start... However, I was wondering if these sensors can actually give problems before they go completely bad? To me, I would think the sensor works fine, or it don't work at all.. Has anyone ever seen these sensors give intermittent problems while on their way to going completely bad?? I replaced mine today after working 4 hours just trying to remove it!! There was no metal on the tip and nothing has ever touched down on it.. I haven't got a chance to test drive it to see if it changed anything, but I'm thinking I may have wasted my time doing this! What have you seen regarding these sensors?

I have replaced all the wiring harnesses with new ones. Just wondering if the sensor itself can cause intermittent problems. -
Prohemi500 Thanks this.

If its not adjusted properly, this sensor can miss to count rotations on shaft.
Its easy for ECU to calculate how many percent of rotations this sensor miss to catch, because there is one more sensor send signals to ECU
Most of the time, this sensors begin miss to catch rotations on lower rpm's
for that reason, you can start your engine with starting fluid, and then drive to home, or shop. -

Dude please share the outcome or final result, down to the end then someone will be happy. Thank you.

I being trying y to remove it, (Trs sensor) but it won’t come off. I got to the point where I can rotate it so far. Worrying it is going to break if I force it. Then it will be more work and money to spend on the #### sensor
