Past few months (4 trucks). Something wrong with me. Happens every couple weeks. Pretty sure it isn't something with the truck.

I am touched by the outpouring of support, even from those of you who (strenuously) disagree with my decision to go back. I do understand your position that it would be a step backwards. You must believe me when I say that both The Hot Chick and I are overwhelmed by your support.

Before I became a trucker I worked in the white collar world (Mitsubishi sales trainer). I was a member of the "respectable" echelon of society. Paul Fredericks tailored monogrammed dress shirts, different cuff links every day, highly polished wingtip shoes, corner office, power ties, company car, popular crowd at the mega church, the works.

The people were the most venal, two faced, backstabbing bunch of guttersnipes you've ever heard of. When the place I was working folded, I ended up changing careers--not by choice but with commitment once I started. Nearly everyone I knew turned their backs on me for lowering myself to this level. Even my wife's family--one person in particular tried to get her to take our daughter and disappear from this horrible situation.

That hurt.

Of all the "friends" and "family" I had when I was "respectable," only a very few remain (although they are REAL).

My point (and I do have one) is that since I've been a grubby, lowly blue collar drone, the vast majority of the people I've connected with are REAL. Some of them lack maturity, not all of them are completely sane, many of them don't agree with me, some of them are openly contemptuous of me, but for the most part in this world what you see is what you get.

I think that's the way things are supposed to be.

So believe me when I say to those of you so disagree with me that I appreciate your candor; I have my reasons for going back but please know that I have much respect for each of you and hope you will stick around (I know some of you will just for the chance for an epic "I-told-you-so." Don't deny it; opportunities for those are rare and you're only human!).

I will not argue/bicker with those of you who disagree with me (much). I will say to the last two posters that there are those here who have gone back to a previous employer and it has worked out.

Re: The Great Texas Sickness Couldn't Get Home Incident: Yes, that was a bad one. A planner or two really had a rectocranial inversion. I eventually got it worked out and I now know how to use their system to counter that sort of thing.

Come to think of it, I have also learned how to counter it here (different method).

Anyway, thanks to all of you for reading. I hope you stick around as 2016 promises to be an interesting time. I think it will be in a good way.

Zoom, a lot of the people on here probably mean well, but you know what is best for you and the better half. One of the most important statements you have made on here is a post a little while back, which I think some did not notice or catch. You stated that you had now learned to adapt to trucking companies ways a little better, more understanding that of how it is instead of how we want it to be. Now that was not your exact words, but pretty much the meaning. I have been sitting here reading this thread for hours, so not sure how far back it was or I would quote exactly what you said, and if others get their panties in a wad, I will go back and find it. I applaud everyone here who is giving you companies to consider, we need all the help of our sincere drivers we can get. But the thing other drivers need to realize is, 1-You seem to leaning back to Celadon for some things that are good for your situation now but maybe don't want to be known, at least that's how im taking it, and there is nothing wrong with that. 2-It is easy to tell drivers about all these other companies like they are doing for you, but as a driver if you've had a couple bad experiences, then sometimes it is hard to chose, because every single company that has been mentioned to you, probably has numerous post about how bad it is. Now we know all of them are not that bad, but it is the weeding through all the stories and seeing if we are able to read between the lines of these stories to make our determination. Ive got quite a few yrs of experience driving a truck, and a lot of experience selling cars, which taught me how to be really good at reading people. But im telling ya, it aint easy sometimes with all this negative stuff on here to sort through it. I personally am now trying to decide where I want to go back and work at after a couple heart surgeries and neck surgery. I am thinking about Risinger, if they will hire me back after all the health issues. That's the thing, I worked at Risinger for a total of about 4 weeks and had to quit for heart surgery, yet they were the nicest people ive ever worked for in the trucking industry in my short stay. But then you pull up the threads and most of them are negative about Risinger, and I don't remember if you stated your thoughts on them or not, I kind of started reading your thread somewhere in the middle, where you had to leave Risinger because of health issues and insurance. Anyway, after making this way to long, what im saying is you and her need to make this decision on what you feel is best you.

Speaking of eventful--

Left Portland in the rain that quickly turned to snow, which turned into a LOT of snow, which turned into near whiteout conditions with the high gusting winds. Slowed to about 25-30 for a while and started thinking about calling it when I came out the other side. I hammered down thinking I might make the Space Age truck stop at the 182 exit and remain ahead of schedule. Got to a nice long downhill and noticed I had crept up to around 65 (cruise and Jake off in freezing wet conditions). I braked down to the double nickel and proceeded--to see the dreaded disco lights on my six.

Rassa frassa. There goes my trip plan, CSA, retirement, etc.

Hot Chick was dozing in the passenger seat and I asked her to stay put til the bear got to the window. She opened the door for him and he saw her unbuckle her seat belt to go pass out in the bunk.

He was pretty cool about it all, just a justification for a roadside level 2 (zero violations and a warning on speed). All told about 15 min.

Blew my whole trip plan out of the water. I can't be mad at the trooper though--consummate professional. My own fault for not paying attention. He said he noticed I slowed down before he lit me up, which was why no citation. So--could have been much much worse.

Wondering what kind of flogging safety is going to give me tomorrow when I call them, though. The new girl is kind of a ####, based on my (admittedly quite limited) dealings with her.

Will I be decapitated, flogged, wood chippered, dissolved, eaten, pooped out, reconstituted, shot, and fed to angry sharks with laser beams on their heads, possibly even killed?

Probably not--PETA would never allow laser beams to be mounted on shark heads.

It's just a warning. I have gotten a few. Not worth getting worked up over, especially if you hardly ever deal with safety.
