Bit late to the thread, but I have been working for Heyl out of the Zephryhills Florida terminal for about 6 months.
starting pay .385 a mile, most runs are Florida to the midwest/texas then rebound back to florida. they do have swaps for Canadian freight i have been averaging 2500 a week over the last 6 months, rare to sit and wait for a load. only at meat plants, and if they know your going to be waiting they typically pull you to a yard so they can do maintence.
No issues with dispatch or safety.. hell the director of safety is kinda cool, he even lets you bring in your own Vaseline. really a decent company, they are rolling the fleet to automatics KW ,Frieghts, and Volvo.

Been interested in Heyl for sometime. Last year I wanted to take the slpash and go OTR from local. Circumstances made it unwise to do so but now I think this is the year! Deciding between Bynum and Heyl. Heyl looks like they pay better but less miles and vice versa for Bynum. But it is down to those two. I am more liking Heyl than Bynum though. Thoughts???

Yep, I am still with Heyl, they recently changed the pay here, starting is .40 a mile with changes to the bonuses as well. I have never missed my bonuses, so, yes they are easy to get. But they don't really do training.. you would have to have at least 6mo's OTR. only mountain i see on a regular basis is Eagle on 24.. and that one is a piece of cake, darthanubis and southtruck Thank this. -
Kewl, by June I expect the nest to be empty so I am liquidating everything and going all out OTR. Last year the recruiter said I only needed 6 months tractor trailer, not OTR. So I'll need some clarification on that. I know I just need to be in the eights and sevens for mountains and triple my follow distance in snow and ice. I hear they are going all auto which will take some getting used to. I've driven some Volvo autos and they like to switch gears when turning so it's just a pedal thing. I'm probably looking around April as I have a lot of things to take care of. And if the six month OTR is Not negotiable I can run local and region there until I get my wings. I know Tampa bay like the back of my hand. And I know they run local

were actually phasing out the volvos (or so i hear) all they have been buying are freight shakers and Kwoppers.. all autos,But we still have quite a few 9/10 speeds (mine is a ten). As I say not 100% on the requirement for OTR best to call recruiting, I do know they have been known to make the occasional exception.
Starting is actually at .41 with a .01 cent on both the quarterly bonus and MPG/Idle % plus it's an extra .05 on all miles over 28,000 now. This and I get home when I want, with no muss no bother.darthanubis, RookieJ1987 and southtruck Thank this. -
Home won't be an issue. I'll look forward to taking time off wherever, Texas, South Dakota, Indiana, Iowa , north west, I'll even go Canada or Mexico once I get my ducks in row. Well maybe not Mexico. I hear bad things soooooo
