I couldn't get into a dock this years first Chicago snow/Ice event. Called the 311 Publics Works number. Within an hour there were 2 cops, 3 salt trucks at the Tortillia place. Great service, they even brought hot Chocolate for me and the other driver that couldn't get in.

    Am I reading this correct?

You called requesting public assistance for a problem on a shipper/receiver's private property?

The street was unpassable. The place is on one of those Chicago side streets that relied on 130 yr old streets to gain entry onto a 48 ft dock.

You could have taken it at face value instead of automatically concluding that the city did something for a 75yr old company that has been a taxpayer for all those years.

But it was actually the street that was the problem. Never the less, so what if they helped a business that has been paying them all these years?

I think I can speak for all Chicagoan's, MYOB and don't worry about it. Call me a liar again and I'll flood the board with the pictures.

If someone is ever stuck in this situation again, don't fixate on finding rock salt. Normal everyday table salt will melt the snow just as good as rock salt will. probably take more of it but it still works.

Sometimes you have to think outside the box, or in this case outside the bag.

Why not google local snow removal places? I'm sure a plow truck would be happy to swing by and spread some salt for a quick buck, especially if you didn't ask to hook up for a tow....

the street was "unpassable"... That was not in your post and is germane as to why Streets and San was dispatched. It was an assumption on my part that the problem was on private land, but a logical one.

I have only been driving 4+ years but I have never seen a "dock" on public land, though most of my truck has been, a few times. One time I had to watch for trains!

No need to threaten to "flood the board with pictures". We've all seen snow before.

Having read your other post the question was logical. You failed to explain that it was the street that was impassable.
Other than that, you posted ON AN OPEN FORUM, FOR ALL TO READ. That you had a problem. If you can't handle the responses, you need to grow a pair.

    Good Day.
