Soon they'll find a way to tie it into the traffic camera's that watch the roads. Then they'll hire an Indian firm to offshore the work to.

You never know who is watching, but video tape has replaced written reports. I drove for a company insured by Markel. At least, Markel used marked cars so drivers generally knew when they were being followed. Speed and lane usage were items they checked. Later, our logs were compared with location and direction on the Markel report. Drivers made sure their logs were accurate at that point. The Markel inspector was paid $6 per report in the 1970s. Drivers received coupons for uniforms with every good report.

Markel assisted in passing the National Motor Carrier Act of 1935 which allowed state and federal authorities to regulate truckers.

This was a selling point for Central Reefer also... as well as Swift.. when I spoke to their recruiters 4 years ago after getting my CDL... "come drive with us for 6 months and we'll make you a trainer... you can be making $100k by the end of your 1st full year driving... right. As we all have, I learned when the lips are moving, it's a lie coming out. lol And my trainer with Central... was a joke... we ran team from day one. The day he got me at the terminal, he told me to drive, here's the map if you get lost, and he went to sleep for nearly 8 hours as I just drove on into the night. My first day. By week two, we were team driving 5 hours on and 5 off with me doing most the night time driving and lucky to have 4 hours sleep at a time. The dude was a nutcase, never showered...and his idea of dinner was a bag of chips and soda. Yep, inexperienced trainers... looking for one thing... $$$. There's gotta be good ones, but man, I sure got the Ace of Central's fleet.
