I thought I asked this already but I can't seem to find my post so I am gonna ask again. What is the training at this company like? Is it team training? How long is the training period for new drivers? Also what kind of equipment does the company use? Manual/Autos? Thank you in advance.
-
First the easy question: Equipment
Awesome!!! All Autos... Mostly Volvos followed by Kenworths then Freightliners then Macks. Fridge and inverters are included.
Quick Summary:
Training is a bit longer than the typical "3 weeks and you go solo"... While the length depends on ones personal skill level and how quickly they progress, you could expect 8-12 weeks of in truck, hands on, training. I was in training for 12 weeks.
Team Driving: is a mix... In the beginning you are running 14 on and 10 off with the trainer in the seat beside you. Then, as you progress, it migrates to more of a team setting which is nice since you get the feel of running solo but always have an experienced driver close by as needed (hard backs, cop stops you, make a wrong turn, etc)
Newbie here myself so feel free to ask any questions...

So, as of today, Road test for the state is complete and a pass by the skin of my teeth, apparently some of my old habits are to qwell. At any rate I passed. Phase 2 nearly complete, Friday I get my official license.
Lonesome, MidWest_MacDaddy and bigred81 Thank this. -
Yea a bit more clarity on the training would be nice. I don't wanna be trying to sleep while the truck is moving. I know for a fact I can't sleep while in a moving truck already tried that. What is the starting pay and average miles per week? I realize it varies from week to week but just curious if there is a rough ballpark figure.

Did you ever think of actually calling the company would help with exact details?
