I thought it was only a training thing to log the required 40 backs.
But got counseled at about the 5 month mark for not sending them.
Like others have said... It's ridiculous.
Common sense dictates... If you need to get out to look, you get out and look.
I also don't stop to send it, circumstances can change while you are distracted with this ridiculous duty.
I complete the backing, set the brakes, and THEN SEND THE GOAL.

Just a constant reminder that your trucking company doesn't trust you and the skills you acquired to get your CDL. It's like continuing to put diapers on a child up to age 12.
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -

I'm about 7 months in and I haven't sent a goal message yet. I did it as a trainee, but never once while solo. Never heard a word about it from anybody.
Now, whenever the fleet manager for my terminal sends messages she always ends it with "don't forget your goal messages". But I still haven't been " counseled" on it. -
You didnt bother asking them if they wanted you to make them a sandwich too while you were at it?
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
Wow, I really need to pay off debt and get my own truck, I can't believe they ask people do send a message before they back. Hopefully nobody at my company requires this or they're going to be short a few drivers!

I've noticed several companies that have GOAL written on the side mirrors???

Much of it is just so condescending.
The newest one by Scott makes a point that 89% of Swift drivers are 100% safe, and have been for at least the last 6 months.
OK, so why don't they fire that 11% that are responsible for all the low scores and expensive repairs? It would make Swift a much more respected company in so many areas.FerrissWheel and scottied67 Thank this.
