I will not do any food loads unless drop and hook....I spent 13 hours at a hell hole in Phoenix a while back for them to count 24 pallets of papertowels on a sealed load...I called in and just left...not a word from anyone...@Schneider

He lives not too far from me... You're not gonna profit much being home every weekend now... 2 years ago I had a lane that was sweet.. From my house to Laredo and back.. Was always home Saturday morning until Tuesday then I started the process over.. After the whole summer and then some it dried up... Or the company guys got it instead... I'm not saying you can't do, but with a 1100 a week truck not being home everyweekend with at least 1300 take home isn't as easy as you're make it out to be... I see the same rates you're seeing.. They're not anything to brag about. Now if this was reefer or maybe even flatbed a year ago id say yup

I'm sure sadwar and dogals would disagree with you. I'm not saying it's easy but it can be done. I'm not in that region a ton but I know the region well enough at this point to know how to run it if i decided to move back.

    Woooo buddy! That sucks!
Makes you miss Reefer don't it? lol

I did reefer also before coming here also and NEVER would they let you get the bills before paying the lumpers.
In my opinion if lumpers don't get you unloaded within 2 hours they shouldn't get paid. I hate lumpers, they are ALWAYS slow! 100% of the time they won't unload you timely.
I've been doing more live load/unloads lately only due to the numbers aspect of the loads and haven't had any issues, lately been getting loaded/unloaded in 30 min or less.
However the few lumper unloads I have done here have always been a disaster, half my day to 3/4 of my day wasted sitting in a door.

Anyways if it makes you feel better I was at a Walmart DC yesterday and yeah it felt like everybody showed up at the same time lol.

Then I had loads cancel for today sooooo after this afternoon I might be stuck in PA also.
I'll be in Pittsburgh though so I might just say screw it and deadhead to Columbus for something.
Can't complain though because I was on track for my best week ever but doubt that'll happen now, still a very good week though.

btw I did I mention I hate lumpers? lol

If it's customer I've had before I base it off that.
In the load on the board it does say "planned out hours for load/unload" but that seems like a random guess.
If it's a new place I haven't been before I usually trip plan 1 hour for drop/hook and 2 hours for live load/unload.
If it says "lumper unload" I trip plan 4 hours for that in the rare cases I do them and usually 4 hours isn't enough.
On the load itself it does say "customer unload", "lumper unload", "driver unload" or "driver assist unload".
I have seen all four, last two being extremely rare.

Basically a driver who just started a few months ago is struggling because he's trying to get home every weekend and make a good profit... He said he knows he's not making the most he can but he opts to go home every weekend and take the little check. . me and the guy live close so I know where he lives and he's not gonna be able to go home every weekend and make good money living in the Southeast with a lease payment at first... You have to really know the lanes... If people wanna be home every weekend it's best to just get traditional financing because it's less stressful.. Because only working 5 days here and trying to gross 3500-4000 you're gonna wear yourself real fast
