I wanna be mercerized but not to the point to where I'm only running enough to keep the bills paid lol.

 

The crazy thing is I didn't mind bouncing into Cali but considering i was number 36 on the western board on a Wednesday there wasn't much I was gonna get this week and even next week. I had a great paying load going over to Cali from Az but the agent warned me that if I take it there is about 75 trucks over there so you'll get pushed back to the bottom of list once you do this load and possibly be there for another week or more. It took 3 days to come up with that load so imagine me sitting in Cali on a Friday empty.

Well said JACQUESI23 . I could not have said it better. Sitting costs money. I work the lanes where the rates and freight is. I am not afraid to tarp neither lol. The key to the realm is to try to stay consistent the best you can and not chase the loads. I have always scratched my head why people take a so called "money load" only to sit for 3-4 days or more. I need to have a beer with one of these people and hear the rational behind this LOL.

You can't be serious with this are you? If you empty in AZ & take a load to Cali from AZ you hold ur board position. You do know that's how it works right? If not, then this explains alot.

 

Actually I do know that's how it works but it pays to read the text in its entirety.
I said I was 36 on a Wednesday. So why would I go sit in Cali on a Friday with a position of 36 an empty.

 

Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking guys who do. But that's not the system I'm looking for. I have a nice bed at home an I prefer to sleep in it when I'm not under or headed to get a load.
I can do without camping out at the TA for 3 days waiting on that mother of all loads to get to me. If it ever gets to me.
Some guys can afford to do so an some guys naturally love the road an enjoy the days just relaxing. I'm different, I will run as much as mercer wants me to. Will tarp as much as I need to.
I need the money first. We can party an BBQ at the truckstop after this equipment is paid for lol.

 

Might I add that I had been empty in AZ since Monday morning. I'm guessing you would've sat over the weekend in Cali an half of next week too.

 

I couldn't agree more!!! I can afford to sit forever if I choose and it always amazes me. The idea of sitting in the truck more than overnight is out for me, I don't enjoy in the least being anywhere but home if I'm not working. Sitting in the petro for three days is not included in my definition of working. I run a load out then back and repeat two to three weeks later. No load when empty, head towards home and look for something on the way.

 

I'm due for a root canal myself. Smh
