Rarely have I ever in my life seen a guy in a large car "working on his fuel economy" (i.e.; going slow or even 65 in a 65). Usually they're the dudes wailing by Billy-big-rigger style in the hammer lane at 10 over.

That's what our company's trucks are set at. With typically light loads I do most of the passing if I want to. The ungoverned hood trucks are the only ones I know I'm not catching, but I'm not really out there racing anybody.

Not slowing down just a tad for a little bit to let the faster truck around is, believe it or not, contributing to the elephant races. Simply put. Who gives a rat's behind what that passing driver's agenda is. He/she clearly has a reason to run the speed they are running for whatever reason and if you are slower than them, back out of it and let them around. It sure beats having them tailgate you for miles and miles down the road.

Oh, I agree. I don't need someone to tell me when my wagon has cleared them but, it's just the gesture alone that counts. I don't mind a quick flash of the brights, I just don't like the brights being on for more than like 15 seconds....lol. You can make your point about telling to come back over without doing that.

The one thing where I'll gladly except anything is when like, you're about to get stuck behind a slow one in the slow lane and either the big truck or four wheeler gives you a blink telling you to come over so you don't have to back out of it and lose ur steam and/or get freighttrained by a line of traffic in the hammer lane.

Well, some of these bozos that like to come back over a few feet after clearing your headlights are the ones who oughtta wait for "permission".....lol.

Not sure where this concept of flashing the high beams came from, maybe new trucks have lights on when engine on or something, but the old rule was to turn lights on then off (daytime) or turn lights off then on (night time). Now the new rule is do not do any sort of flash to pass because you are taking on liability if that trucker comes over and wrecks out, he can say that other guy flashed me indicating I was safe. It is just like the rule not to hang your hand out the window to let people behind you know it is OK to pass on blind curves.

As far as passing, if you want to do it aroun me, I don't care, just don't affect my operation like force me to slow down or expect me to slow down for you to help you complete your pass you cannot make on your own. I am in cruise control miding my own businiess earning aand feeding my family. You come along neck and neck and can't make it and expect me to slow down for you, riiiight. So you can get in front of me and 4 miles up the road I have to reset my cruise to 3 miles per hour slower? Nope. Pass with authority or stay behind.

A good one happened the other night on I-40 westbound, a blue car smoked past me then jumped right in front of my bumper and slowed down, no brakes just slowed down for no reason. I hit the left turn signal and cruisd out into the fast lane and boom, red and blue lights start flashing. The trooper pulled over the little blue car lol

I see it all the time. Not everybody that has a fully capable, non-neutered long nose Pete or K-whopper drives it like they stole it.

There's a lotta truth to that. In this sue-happy world we live in that's all about lawsuits and getting financial gain from other people, We all are probably taking a big risk flashing someone over. Sad to have to say that.
If there ain't nobody behind him, fine. Make him use up 10 miles of highway to get around you because you're too proud to back out of it and let him around. When there's more traffic out and you do this, just like I told Tim, your contributing to the problem. Plain and simple. It's not their fault as drivers that we have all these #### governed trucks. Sittin there holdin ur own and contributing to the traffic backup isn't helping. I'm just glad I have an ungoverned
truck that can pass like no tomorrow until I have to get held up in the hammer lane because someone like you won't let the guy over.

And no, the one passing is NOT going to be the one I'll be mad at.
Agree with ya here. If you're gonna go around somebody, stay in it. I don't like playin leapfrog either.
Sounds about right. I'm just glad there was a cop there at the right time.

how many have flashed and seen that car you had no idea would attempt to zoom around as that pro driver begins comes back over?

I'll leave that up no driver most of the time. occasionally, if im sure I'll hit the interrupt. but I will not take on the respobsabilty of something going wrong.

if I get a flash I'll hit the interrupt to let em know I see as a thanks and take a moment to scan before I come back over. .. I like space, ill wait until its there, at least a truck a trailers worth of space, I see driver's pass on the right daily. big trucks included. cars with just enough room to squeeze in.

I set my cruise control and sit back and relax. Some jackhole comes up .5 miles per hour faster than my cruise maxed out against his governor, he is the Ahole creating problems not me who is just minding my own business. I will refuse to be held responsible and required to adjust for this other guy's stupidity. It happened too many times I had to cancel cruise to let the fool over then I hit Resume and all of a sudden I am gaining on the guy or they just get off the next exit 3 miles up the road and I'm thinking why did I even bother to slow down?

i don't mind being passed, just do it quickly if you want to do it, don't hang out 10 miles next to me to do it. Look at these two guys playing the snail races. Then I show them how it is done--
