Types of truckers passing me

Maybe I should rephrase... it was actually common practice, if not the norm to actually talk to each other over the airwaves. We knew who was being told to come over. We would call out the Co name, trl type, or even brand of truck.
I do miss the good olé dsys.... There were many nights that little squawk box kept me awake on them long runs. You could always find someone to jaw with, if not already running in a 4 truck or more convoy running 90 plus. Those were the days when this job was actually fun.

 

I disagree. It's your job to know weather or not your truck has the balls to pass me. I drive 57-60mph for fuel economy since I buy my fuel. If you can't pass me in a timely manner, then just stay behind me. You are the one holding up traffic, not me. Seriously, I'm already making it easy for anyone to pass me.

Newbie here and just got a CB for my truck... It comes in handy for safety issues and general information... I have chatted on it a bit but I can't imagine doing so for hours upon hours. But then again, I do use other forms of communication to talk to fellow drivers like posting to this forum, etc.

And to hear the "truckers" talking about some newbie trying to make a back at a truck stop of condemning everything new happening out here and ever reminiscing about them good old days as compared to now... Well, to be honest, I can see why some don't bother getting a CB as they can feel excluded or even condemned but others. So what benefit is it to them?

 

In these times, it really doesn't benefit them...when they're having trouble backing into a spot they get crucified. Years ago you'd help them, nowadays it's easier to pull the curtains and belittle someone.

 

Super truckers forget that x amount of years ago it was THEM having a hard time backing that trailer into a spot at the truck stop. If I see someone having trouble....I will get out and spot for them. .I have had some of those seasoned females get PO'ed at me for having the audacity to spot for them!!! I hope I never get too old or too arrogant NOT to appreciate the extra help! I do get out and help any time I can though no matter who it is.....

 

Also, alot of these drivers are more likely to tell you to #### off instead of accepting your help.

On the rare occasion someone does spot for me while backing, I will but them a coffee or soda as thanks.

 

In the end, it all comes down to having some empathy for the other guy, putting yourself in their situation for bit.
