If United Road wants you to work out of Marysville Ohio terminal you could probably be home quite a bit but I'm pretty sure they have locations in Chicago. I'd ask if you could start in Marysville and switch to a Chicago terminal when a position becomes available. I've worked at United Road as an owner operator years ago. It was the wrong kind of place for me. The rates were pretty decent but the deductions were a joke. Payday was almost always a disappointment.
If you can get on I'd recommend a union gig at a plant such as Jack Cooper in Fort Wayne Indiana. Or Cassens in Chicago area.

I believe United Road pays percentage to the comany drivers. It used to be 25%. You should be able to make considerably more than $1300 a week within a year. During busy times you should be able to gross 2k a week or more depending on how much you want to work.

If you're going to work out,of Marysville Ohio and be OTR then expect to not be home much. First year 60k is no problem. I made 105 the year before I left and that was running around like a chicken with its head cutoff east West and North South. A lot of the special move and auction work will pay significantly better than some terminal work. You will get a ####### truck in the beginning but prove you can put numbers on that #### box and you'll have better equipment. You have a certain number to meet each week. Your first 90 days you get a base pay that meets part of that number and you get paid the difference if you exceed it. All deliveries are done on the OVISS phone app, really simple. Ask every question you can while your training because there is a chance what you think can happen already happened to,someone else there lol. Don't be ashamed when it takes you 6 hours to load your first load it happened to all of us. Anything else just ask, I'll try and answer as best I can.

Didn't see you were in chicago, ask them if you can work out of Bolingbrook. You can run chicago to md with fords and haul rovers or jags back to IL. Be home a lot more that way.

Do what you want. But if you have not even started there, and are worried where you are going, it is probably not going to work out. Stay where you are.

Look homie you being young like me I'd take the offer for 1 reason. Experience. Any owner operator thats been in business for years and never comes on the board to complain about rates is because they have options. For example I know a dude in Florida who owns 1 tractor a reefer and a flat bed... No reefer??? Boom flat bed... Another guy in Memphis who owns a Dry Van and a Car Hauler.... Neither have complained in 20 plus years.... The only people who complain about rates are those who arnt versatile.... The moneys out here.... Go get it!!!!

A trucking company needs to put equipment based on operational need, not where the driver wants to go.
There are people on here everyday that should be more concerned about gaining experience and what can they do to become the professional driver they need to be.
However most of the questions are what will be done for me.brian991219 and WhyDriveTruck Thank this. -

I have to agree with Slant6. Fit the company to get your experience then you can pick and choose. Car hauling companies are desperate for experienced car haulers. If you get a chance to learn a good career awaits. As someone mentioned before, 10 may start but only 1 or 2 may make it. Once you have experience you'll be able to go wherever you choose.
