I swapped between a 76 Mack and 74 IH,.. depending on which trailer I needed. The Mack had the vents like you described, no AC. The IH had a roof mounted AC. It worked 100%, 25% of the time. Mostly it just dripped on you all day and buzzed too loud to hear the radio.

I will add, the 5th wheel slider, power divider was on the little panel with the "Red" button. This was the way the owner liked his trucks set up. Note the green button below the silver button next to the glove box. This was the "emergency release of the Maxi Brakes", (standard at the time) a one time shot of getting the brakes released for whatever reason.

    MJ1657 Thanks this.

I could never understand why Peterbilt switched the
Tractor / Trailer valves around between the 359s and 379s.
It drives me nuts and cost me a ding in the top of my grill.
One day a few falls ago we got rained out in the field. My rig was loaded and dads was empty so he took mine home. He hates it and wines like a little kid every time he has to drive my ''newfangled toy truck.'' [16yr old 379]
    [ He's been running the same 87 359 for 20 some years.]
He nosed it up to a dropped reefer with just enough room to open the hood the next morning. Next day he's getting his log book in order while its building air. Pushed the button to charge the trailer.
[The fully aluminated genuine accessory brake valves has the lettering completely wore off.]
He got the wrong one. The trailer was already released.
And the truck was pointing down hill right at the dropped reefer.
Before he knew he has moving he ran the tip of my hood right into the reefer unit. Pushed the top of the grill back and caved the top of the hood down.
I got it mostly straitened back out with a bottle jack but its still not 100%.
What can you do, **** happens. I'm just thankful he's still around even if he wrecks stuff time to time.

This is a line that I will remember the next time I get upset with a parent, kid, or good friend.

Oh I'm fairly confident I'm ahead of the Old Man in the wrecking stuff department. I'm dreading the day my boy gets to that point. :( A load of used, stinking, dripping dumpsters on my new wagon. One with a new Peterbilt mudflap in it after I ripped it off in the #### mud. tmp_18285-IMG_20160311_113717148459679901.jpg

    Yep, thankfully... ###### tarps.

I won't get into the details.

I haven't seen 'my' set of trains in a while, it has nicer tarps with it.
