Its nit that its just cheap, but it will beat you to death going down the riad, with 5th wheel and trailer tandems in the "sweet spots". Now granted, i haul 90% spring suspension trailers. That may be the issue. And yes the DD15 is the most mechanically reliable of the SCR engines, but id pay for a Cummins anyday bc they will actually pull a hill. Ive never driven a Paccar but ive had many mixed tales about them. Ive been told they were amazing, others say nightmare. Either way, in just trying to move up the ladder the best way i know i can achieve it. Thank you for the reply. Happy trucking!

Saving that is my dilema, im currently saving to move to Missoula Montana and if i can do that i know i can get on with a smaller company. I hate the fact that im currently hauling freight for a mega carrier (Werner, yeah i know.......). Thanks for the advice driver.

Im no stranger to hard work. Worked two cattle farms as a teen, paid for everything ive ever had on my own once i was able to work. If i dont get 3k miles a week im not working hard enough. This week i ran 2600 and i was not a happy camper. Thats the best ive done in the past month with this new dispatcher and im really not liking the guy at all. I can run, i just need to be ran. Thanks for the advice and encouragement driver. Stay safe.

Thinking its necessary to run 3k+ might hold you back from good money. Read through other IC threads and in particular this thread. Shorter pays more.

Rickybobby ran 80k on the year and did pretty well.

Yes shorter loads pay more per mile, but you eat that by the extra wear and tear on the brakes, clutch, fuel etc. The load im on now is 1553miles and im company, running off of my re cap on elogs. Omaha to Irvine CA.

How am i using more brakes, clutch, wear etc when I'm earning my money on 350 miles doing 2-3 loads instead of one load doing 550 miles in a day?
I'm not using my brakes and clutch when I'm sitting in a dock lol.

    drvrtech77 Thanks this.

The short hauls ive done tend to be a lot if stop and go traffic through towns and cities. But a short haul for me is one load, one stop 250miles. I prefer long hauls. But thats just me.

That all depends of what loads you book and what routes you take.
I dont deal with loads through endless city roads unless it pays amazing.
I'm all for long runs but they all pay crap here. Only time long loads pay anything here is if they go to a trash market.

You sound like 70% of the IC's on Choice...

Strange, I think that's close to the failure rate on Choice. But I could be mistaken, what do I know?...

    To each his own...

    Roll on...

You prefer long loads = You are not a good candidate for choice unless you have your own bought and paid for truck in excellent condition.

    drvrtech77 and freightwipper Thank this.
