    How do you go about taking time off? Where would you have to keep your truck? It's nice to know that it's possible to still do many of the things other civilians do such as go to the movies and stuff. The way people made it sound confused me. "You drive from A to B. By the time you get to B you'll be so tired you'll barely want to eat. Wake up, your at A now it's time to drive to B and repeat" Like i'm perfectly fine living in a truck as long as i have internet and perhaps a dog or cat to keep me company, but the way people made it sound was as if you don't get much time off to do any of the civilan things like going to movies, to a restaurant, etc. When i was talking about being away from my family if i joined the military, i was talking about being away for years at a time. I fine with being home every few weeks if i have to. Far better then missing out on years. If i were to start trucking today, i would get a laptop and a MiFi hot spot so that i could watch movies and do whatever on my laptop. That's like what, $50 ? If i wanted to save more money, i'll get one of those cheap flip phones or move to a prepaid smart phone company like boost mobile. Boost mobile starts at $50 a month for android and can move all the way down to $30 a month if you stay with them long enough i believe. That's like what around $100 for constant internet for my laptop (not to mention free tv shows) and a smart phone? The only expenses i'd have to do from that point is paying for the truck (if i have to) and buying food for me and my dog/cat.

    Hilarious. Do you think just ANYBODY can be a nurse? Do you have the dedication, stomach, and BRAINS to get through school to be an RN? Do you have any idea of what it is like? RN's are skilled professionals, truck drivers are UNSKILLED LABOR - that is how the United States Dept. of Labor classifies truck drivers - UNSKILLED LABOR. I would say at least 95+ % of truck drivers have about a zero chance of having enough brains to get through RN school.

    We might be classified as unskilled but we are regarded as professionals on par with doctors, lawyer and politicians.

    That would be guaranteed to get some amusing answers, especially from the old crusty's who are usually quick to point out how awful it is compared now to the good ole' days. (In all fairness, some days are awful.)

    Cool head, friend. Keep a cool head. The cool head prevails. If you have buttons, people will push them.

    So you want to truck. Nothing wrong with that. Some of us still enjoy the job. Ask @Chinatown about his wildest weekend in a truck. Should be a good story.

    Dont take this the wrong way, but I would recommend that you do a few years in the military. It will give you a sense of accomplishment, pride, teamwork and inner strength. Travel, pound some exotic girls, THEN truck at 22 or 23.

    Anyways, luck in battle.
