Serious question: What do experienced O/O's recommend as a baseline dollar figure to get started? Used truck/trailer...$50K, plus $10K for operating expenses for six months? -
10k will not make it 3 months on fuel alone.
crb and Coast Cruiser Thank this. -
I would kinda like to see a broke no credit having person come back to one of these threads and offer azzhats a job. I can see trying to give advice to a good person being mislead by a trashy ### trucker. Busting some ones chops for circumstances out of there control or there past mistakes is pretty #### childish. I knew a young fella once that layed under a ragged heap most days to run all night. Pulled the motor out of his truck on the street in front of his house cause there was no other option. Its called determination. Quit or fear is never an option. I'm sure he isn't the only one in the business just sayin

If you're not at the edge of bankruptcy you're not trying hard enough . There are many huge concerns that started on a shoe string . Fear should never hold you back . Fear of what , going broke ? Three years ago I was almost homeless , hit the road and dug trucks out of the snow to deliver them to dealers for no money in Minnesota in January . Talked my way into a job pulling decks for 2 k a week with no experience whatsoever , I was on planes three or four days a week , so much so that I became Ruby on American Airlines . Had a hell of a summer then used my frequent flyer miles to fly to a trucking company to lease purchase a ride , did it for 18 months , ran my ### off , cleaned up my credit , bought my own ride . I'm not rich but I'm happy that I never took no for an answer nor listened to anyone who told me I needed 50 k dollars to become an owner operator lol
Crotts Trucking, Joe Dan and Coast Cruiser Thank this.
