Looking forward to it. I'll see if I can talk him into an "after" video for comparison here.

How far you transmit to my receiver and how far you transmit to a stock receiver is two totally different things.

Loss of power or frequency range. Because it seems you lose no frequency range when the conversion happens with the stryker 955. It goes from 24-30. -
The best way to confirm is to start asking people questions on the radio. The next time you're talking to someone going the opposite direction make sure you know where that person is at all times in relationship to your position. That's the best way to know. Unless you know someone is waiting for you at a truck-stop you could tell that person to listen for you on the radio and call you on the phone as soon as they hear you.

While we're on the subject of distance it's also a good idea to ask all sorts of technical questions about the person you are speaking to on the radio so when that person hears you from 30 miles away you know what the secret is and when he is unable to hear you 7 miles away you'll know what his problem is. Here's a list of questions I ask people when I'm driving down the interstate.
What kind of truck is it?
What kind of antenna is it?
How long is the shaft at the base of the antenna?
Are you running one or two antennas?
What kind of antenna mounting stud are you using?
Who is your radio technician?
What kind of cable are you using and how long is it?
Where is your antenna mounted?
How is your antenna mounted?
What kind of microphone are you using?
At the very bottom of my list of questions and actually the least important question is what kind of radio is it?Last edited: Apr 5, 2016

Even better when you're driving down the interstate and you hear two guys talking to each other and one of them is 10 miles ahead of you and one of them is 10 miles behind you ask each one of those drivers all of those questions and it will be a valuable learning experience

The anytone radio is 20 watts carrier 80 Watts peak on am. It's about $185 plus shipping from China. Side Band Is Awesome on that radio and it has a real vfo knob so you don't need the stupid band selector switch the striker radio comes with. it seems like it's about twice the radio for half the price so it's a no-brainer in my book
