Need current info on May Trucking in Pensacola

I'm quite happy here, they have been great to me.

The miles/pay are outstanding for me. I have a trainee 95% of the time and averaged over 3000 miles a week last year and took 2 -10 day vacations and my regular time off.

Put your dues in and the money is great. I'm at top pay (.45 mile) and top pay trainer (.15 mile). So I averaged $1,800 a week last year.

I'm a firm believer that you create your own destiny..

Not knocking it, May would hire me back as a trainer in a heartbeat at the top rate too.

I'm also a firm believer in creating your own destiny. Which is why I obtained my own authority, bought a new truck and run nice and easy up and down the I-5 corridor. I'm home 2 to 3 nights a week, no stress, and can assure you I make more than $1800 a week. I just shelter it creatively

 

I heard Pensacola has some really good DMS there as well as Arizona I guess Brooks it's kind of hit and miss. But Layton is terrible for example theres one DM that used to be a security guard that was always a sleep on the job and he didn't even work the grave yard shift. To make somebody with that type of work ethic in charge of drivers is kind of ridiculous. The good thing about that terminal is that they lock drivers out of the office area so the only one you deal with if you're not out of that terminal is the receptionist and she's nice.

Hey GaToR. Great info. Would you recommend dry van or their reefer division? I hear reefer is a bit difficult sometimes but I'm a newb at this. Hopefully I will pass the road test. Haven't driven in 10 months. Thanks

 

Refer division is essentially a rolling cold storage facility on wheels.

A lot of early morning/late night pick ups and deliveries. You are essentially on call 24/7 while the refer unit is running. Just wait until you're hauling a -10 load of ice cream in Atlanta in the middle of summer and the alarm signaling the refer stopped working goes off while you're sleeping, etc, etc, etc.

 

If your out of the east coast terminal I'm pretty sure you can't do the dry stuff. With dry fleet you get short mile loads most 1200 miles and your 14' tall. When it comes to the refer alarms going off it happens a lot poorly maintained refers. When that happens hang your Qualcomm out the window or door I've driven down the road with it hanging out the window a couple times. Our otrs is worthless they won't fix it if you try to get it fixed.

 

Stop thinking the dms are in charge of drivers. They are not. They are just drivers support. The manager title that is given to them is just that, a title. More like babysitters if you ask me and the terminals are the daycare centers.

 

How about just unplugging the pigtail for awhile? Did you even check why its going off? Do you even know how?
