No, I switched companies. I ran percentage, but as a company driver. As a company driver, percentage wasn't what it was cracked up to be...it seemed everytime I got a good paying load, I would get deadheaded far to pick up a real cheap one, and we were not paid for deadhead. I.E., a couple times I pulled a load from NOrth VA to Syracuse for 2.30/mi, only to have to deadhead back to the original shipper in va for nothing. 23% of that round trip= maybe 26cpm

Yeah, running percentage sucks when you don't pick your loads. I had a CH Robinson load once that went from Camden, NJ to WI for 86cpm. Owning my own truck, I wouldn't even start it for a rate that low

I know CHR has that bad rep but I pulled 500 miles from NC to Scranton for them on Wednesday for 1.65 a mile . Fed booked it though , I always assume the big players get better rates or know who to talk to

Was that truckload or Critical/Expedite load? I'm sure they have to have some decent freight, but my company never got it from them lol. Best CHR load I ever got with them was from NE Mass to Chicago for around 1.00/mi, and the only nice thing about that was it only weighed 9k, which was also a rarity for them. They don't call them cheap heavy Robinson for nothing! :p

should speak volumes to you. you shouldnt factor in that you see a ton of company drivers and expect that translates to theres a good paying freight base. if there were a good paying freight base , it stands to reason you'd see more ic's.
