Well, a reputable little birdie told me this week, BNSF is doing away with all chassis and going to ALL LIFTS, like CN and NS.....companies have begun to purchase 40" Tri Axles.....

That's just the light bezel(housing) riveted to the chassis..To get to the Bulb, There should be a c-style clip the size of the red lens that you pop off..

Unless we are talking about some "new" style chassis Ive never seen before with Riveted on sealed tail lights.. (in which case I don't see how that would work Come time for a Light replacement)

Does that include 53'? If so that could make for some very long lines to get lifts.

Plus I would think JB Hunt would keep theirs in the yards. But I guess you never know.

The common denominator in all this: Chicago and the N.E. part of the country. Level 1 last week in Colo., inspector walked the 40', all over it, all the locks were locked and secured, without zip ties or bailing wire, nothing was said about requiring them. I check every lock when I hook, if it won't stay locked on it's own, I use a small piece of bailing wire. Last count, I had 10 or 15 8" pieces floating around in my side compartment for just this purpose.

Ah yes, the good ol' Evergreen chassis with the C-clipped lights and bulbs.

All UP chassis are going this route, they will all have riveted in LED's, designed so drivers cannot touch them, and will further guarantee a job for the hacks in roadability. Have started to see some new 40' chassis with LED's coming in, had a couple of pool Evergreen's and K-Lines about two months ago with LED taillights, and some idiot broke them out, which means all of them were OOS'd, and this was at the depot, not the ramp. It's also really nice with these riveted in lights when they are in a sealed bucket and the plug comes undone. That's a lovely ticket waiting to happen.

To this day, I still call NS 47th Conrail 47th, I can't help myself.

I remember going into UP Canal and having a yellow driver block the whole entrance because he slid down the hill with a set of doubles.

I liked the SP Damen yard, but it was a little rough. (It's actually in the same condition is was 20 years ago, just with more grass now.) I used to pull XTRZ trailers all the time out of there and there were constantly overloaded.

Do you ever have to go to IL Central? I believe it was down by CN harvey.

This was WAY before Logistics park, or Global 3/4 were even thought of.
